A leading airline catering services is slooking for a Microbiologist for their Trivandrum, Kerala Location to ensure strict compliance with international and regulatory food safety standards.
The Microbiologist plays a critical role in safeguarding passenger health by ensuring that all food products served in airline meals are microbiologically safe, wholesome, and compliant with global aviation catering requirements.
The Microbiologist is responsible for conducting comprehensive microbiological testing and analysis of food, water, raw materials, ice, and environmental samples within an airline catering environment. The role ensures strict compliance with food safety regulations, HACCP principles, ISO standards, and airline catering quality requirements.
You will be responsible for identifying contamination risks, analyzing microbiological data, supporting corrective actions, and ensuring that all hygiene and sanitation standards are consistently maintained in production, storage, and service areas.
Job Responsibilities
- Perform microbiological analysis of food products, raw materials, finished meals, water samples, ice, and environmental swabs.
- Monitor and verify personal hygiene, sanitation practices, and cleanliness standards across all catering areas.
- Conduct laboratory testing and accurately interpret microbiological results.
- Prepare detailed microbiological reports, trend analysis, and documentation for management review.
- Ensure full compliance with HACCP, GMP, GHP, ISO 22000, FSSAI, and airline catering safety standards.
- Investigate microbiological deviations, contamination risks, and non-conformities in production or storage areas.
- Support the implementation of Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) to eliminate food safety risks.
- Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment as per scheduled requirements.
- Conduct environmental monitoring programs and analyze microbiological trends.
- Assist in internal audits, external inspections, and regulatory compliance checks.
- Provide food safety, hygiene, and microbiology training to operational and production staff.
- Maintain accurate records, laboratory logs, and documentation in compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with QA, production, and hygiene teams to ensure continuous food safety improvement.
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Microbiology, Food Microbiology, Biotechnology, or related field.
- Certification in HACCP, ISO 22000, or Food Safety Management Systems is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and microbiological principles.
- Minimum 1–3 years of experience in food manufacturing, airline catering, hospitality, or food processing industry.
- Hands-on experience in microbiological testing, laboratory operations, and food safety monitoring is highly desirable.
- Experience in aviation catering or large-scale food production environments will be an added advantage.
Strong understanding of food microbiology and contamination control
- Knowledge of HACCP, GMP, GHP, ISO 22000, and FSSAI standards
- Excellent laboratory testing and analytical skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in reporting
