A food and beverage manufacturing facility in Al Ain, Abu Dhabi is looking for a Laboratory Technician to support laboratory testing, raw material inspection, production line quality checks, and food quality assurance activities.

The Laboratory Technician will be responsible for collecting and preparing samples, conducting laboratory tests according to established procedures, maintaining accurate testing records, and supporting product quality, food safety, traceability, and release activities. The role requires good knowledge of laboratory practices, food quality requirements, laboratory equipment, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Job Responsibilities

  • Collect representative samples of raw materials, packaging materials, in-process products, finished products, and other materials according to approved sampling procedures.
  • Conduct physical, chemical, microbiological, or other applicable quality tests in accordance with laboratory procedures and product specifications.
  • Inspect production samples and raw materials to verify compliance with established quality standards.
  • Perform regular quality inspections along production lines and report deviations to the relevant quality or production personnel.
  • Ensure the correct sample is collected, identified, labelled, handled, stored, and submitted for testing.
  • Follow approved Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), hygiene requirements, and laboratory safety procedures.

  • Accurately record laboratory test results, observations, sample details, and inspection findings.
  • Report test results within the required timeframe and immediately escalate abnormal or out-of-specification results.
  • Support investigation of non-conforming products, laboratory results, process deviations, and quality issues.
  • Assist with product hold, release, and rejection procedures based on approved quality requirements.
  • Maintain batch traceability and ensure laboratory records can be linked to the relevant production batch or sample.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment, instruments, glassware, chemicals, reagents, and other testing materials in suitable condition.
  • Perform routine checks and basic maintenance of laboratory equipment as required.
  • Monitor laboratory chemical and consumable inventory and inform the responsible team when replenishment is required.
  • Maintain laboratory documentation, test records, inspection reports, calibration records, and other quality-related documents.
  • Support internal, external, customer, and regulatory audits by providing relevant laboratory records and information.
  • Participate in proficiency testing and laboratory quality control activities when required.
  • Follow 5S principles to maintain a clean, organized, and efficient laboratory workplace.
  • Ensure laboratory activities comply with occupational health, safety, sanitation, and food safety requirements.
  • Coordinate with Quality Assurance, Production, Warehouse, and other departments regarding sample collection, testing, product status, and quality concerns.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives related to laboratory operations, testing accuracy, quality control, and food safety.

Job Qualifications

  • High school qualification is the minimum educational requirement.
  • Technical or laboratory-related certification is an advantage.
  • 1–2 years of relevant laboratory or food quality control experience is preferred.
  • Experience in a food manufacturing, beverage production, food processing, or quality control laboratory environment is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of laboratory management and routine laboratory procedures.
  • Good understanding of food quality assurance principles.
  • Knowledge of laboratory equipment, instruments, testing methods, and sample handling procedures.
