Food Technologist – Research and Development opportunity at a leading meat manufacturing Industry in Dubai, UAE with the following:

Job Responsibilities

  • Strictly follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) established by the company to ensure all R&D activities are carried out in a controlled, safe, and standardized manner. Gain in-depth knowledge of all in-house recipes, formulations, and product development processes, while also understanding the operational functions of equipment used in the test kitchen and production/manufacturing facility.
  • Prepare, cook, and develop food samples for internal evaluation, including competitor product benchmarking samples for comparative analysis, sensory evaluation, and presentation purposes.
  • Conduct detailed evaluation of food products to ensure they consistently meet defined quality standards, including taste, texture, appearance, shelf-life expectations, and overall product performance.
  • Operate a wide range of advanced kitchen and food processing equipment such as bowl choppers, grinders, tumblers, fryers, mixers, and precision cutting tools, ensuring proper handling and maintenance during R&D trials.
  • Maintain accurate records of ingredients, formulations, supplier information, and raw material data to support product analysis, traceability, and future research requirements.
  • Ensure strict compliance with hygiene, sanitation, and food safety standards within the innovation kitchen, maintaining a clean, organized, and safe working environment at all times in line with HACCP and GMP principles.
  • Product Development:
    Develop food products according to customer briefs, specifications, and requirements. Manage the application process and present newly developed products to customers effectively.
  • New Product Development (NPD):
    Lead NPD, product matching, and reformulation projects within the seasoning and savory category to meet market demands and customer satisfaction.
  • Continuous Product Improvement:
    Enhance the performance of existing products by modifying formulations, replacing or introducing ingredients, and improving overall sensory quality, stability, and shelf life.
  • Cost Optimization:
    Identify cost-effective ingredient alternatives and optimize raw material usage while maintaining product quality, safety, and compliance with brand standards.
  • Production Support:
    Attend production trials both internally and at customer sites to ensure smooth scale-up and consistent product quality. Provide technical guidance to production teams during trials and troubleshooting.
  • Customer and Supplier Collaboration:
    Participate in supplier presentations, internal R&D meetings, and client discussions to share updates, gather insights, and identify new opportunities for innovation.
  • Market and Technology Awareness:
    Stay updated with emerging market trends, flavor innovations, and technological advancements in the snack and seasoning industry to ensure a competitive product portfolio.

Job Qualifications

  • Education:
    Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Food Science, Food Technology, or a related discipline.
  • Experience:
    Proven experience in Research and Development within the meat industry. Prior experience in fsensory analysis, or food manufacturing will be an added advantage.

  • Skills & Competencies:
    • Strong knowledge ofngredient functionality, and kitchen appliances, product formulation.
    • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to engage customers and internal teams.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
    • Strong time management and organizational skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
    • Logical problem-solving abilities with attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Ability to multitask and manage multiple development projects simultaneously.
    • Self-motivated, proactive, and capable of working independently or collaboratively within cross-functional teams.
    • Adaptable to changing business requirements and open to innovation and continuous improvement.
