Quality Control Supervisor – Fresh Produce wanted for a leading FMCG Food stored in Dubai to supervise quality control activities across the Distribution Center and ensure that fresh fruits and vegetables consistently meet established quality, freshness, food safety, hygiene, and regulatory standards.
The Quality Control Supervisor will oversee the inspection of incoming produce, monitor product quality during storage and handling, supervise sorting and picking activities, and ensure that products dispatched to stores meet defined quality and freshness specifications.
The role involves identifying quality deviations, managing non-conformities, supporting CAPA and root cause analysis, monitoring cold chain compliance, coordinating with suppliers and operational teams, and maintaining accurate quality documentation.
The successful candidate will also supervise QC Inspectors and ensure consistent application of inspection procedures, sampling methods, quality specifications, and food safety requirements across Distribution Center operations.
Job Responsibilities
Fresh Produce Quality Inspection
- Supervise the inspection of incoming fresh fruits and vegetables to ensure compliance with approved product specifications and inspection procedures.
- Evaluate produce based on freshness, appearance, color, texture, firmness, ripeness, size, weight, temperature, packaging condition, shelf life, and other defined quality parameters.
- Verify that received products meet established quality standards and customer requirements.
- Identify defects, deterioration, physical damage, spoilage, contamination risks, and other quality concerns.
- Ensure appropriate sampling and inspection techniques are consistently applied by QC Inspectors.
- Support product acceptance, rejection, segregation, and escalation decisions based on established specifications.

Storage and Distribution Center Quality Control
- Conduct routine quality inspections of fresh produce during storage to identify spoilage, deterioration, dehydration, contamination, damage, and shelf-life issues.
- Monitor storage conditions and ensure products are maintained within specified temperature and environmental requirements.
- Monitor cold chain performance throughout receiving, storage, picking, sorting, and dispatch operations.

- Ensure proper handling and movement of fresh produce to minimize product damage and quality deterioration.
- Verify appropriate stock rotation, shelf-life management, segregation, and product identification practices.
- Monitor hygiene and sanitation practices within relevant Distribution Center areas.
Picking, Sorting and Dispatch
- Supervise QC activities associated with produce picking, sorting, grading, and dispatch.
- Ensure products selected for delivery meet required freshness, quality, appearance, and shelf-life standards.
- Identify and remove damaged, spoiled, overripe, under-ripe, contaminated, or otherwise non-conforming products.
- Work closely with warehouse and operations teams to maintain product quality throughout the distribution process.
- Monitor dispatch conditions and ensure appropriate handling of temperature-sensitive fresh produce.
Non-Conformance and Corrective Actions
- Identify, document, and report quality non-conformities and deviations from approved specifications.
- Support product rejection, quarantine, segregation, escalation, and disposition processes where required.
- Coordinate with relevant departments to implement timely corrective actions.
- Support Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) activities related to product quality, spoilage, shelf life, handling, and storage.
- Conduct or support root cause analysis for recurring quality problems.
- Monitor corrective actions to ensure effectiveness and prevent recurrence.
Supplier and Store Coordination
- Coordinate with suppliers regarding fresh produce quality issues, specifications, rejected products, and recurring non-conformities.
- Support supplier performance monitoring and quality improvement initiatives.
- Participate in supplier evaluations and quality audits where required.
- Work closely with Operations, Procurement, Supply Chain, and Stores to investigate and resolve quality-related issues.
- Support investigations into customer complaints, store complaints, product incidents, and quality deviations.
- Ensure timely communication and resolution of fresh produce quality concerns.
Food Safety and Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure fresh produce quality control activities comply with HACCP principles, UAE food safety regulations, company quality standards, and internal food safety procedures.
- Monitor food hygiene and handling practices throughout Distribution Center operations.
- Participate in food safety audits, quality audits, hygiene inspections, and regulatory inspections as required.
- Support implementation of food safety and quality improvement initiatives.
- Escalate significant food safety or quality risks to management promptly.
Team Supervision
- Supervise, guide, and support QC Inspectors working within the Distribution Center.
- Ensure QC personnel consistently follow approved inspection procedures, specifications, checklists, sampling methods, and reporting requirements.
- Provide coaching and on-the-job guidance to improve inspection accuracy and consistency.
- Monitor QC team performance and identify training or competency requirements.
- Promote a strong culture of quality, food safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Documentation and Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of incoming product inspections, quality checks, rejections, non-conformities, and corrective actions.
- Prepare and maintain quality control reports and relevant Distribution Center documentation.
- Monitor and report trends relating to spoilage, product rejection, shelf life, supplier performance, and recurring quality defects.
- Ensure inspection records and quality documentation are complete, accurate, and readily available for audits.
- Provide relevant quality performance information and recommendations to management.
