Food Safety Supervisor wanted in Dubai for a leading FMCG to oversee and maintain food safety, hygiene, and regulatory compliance across Food stores. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that store operations comply with applicable UAE food safety legislation, regulatory requirements, HACCP principles, ISO 22000 standards, and internal food safety procedures.

The Food Safety Supervisor will conduct regular food safety inspections, internal audits, risk assessments, supplier evaluations, and food hygiene training. The role will also monitor food receiving, storage, handling, preparation, and display practices to minimize contamination risks and ensure that high standards of food safety are consistently maintained.As a key member of the Food Safety and Quality team, the Food Safety Supervisor will serve as a primary point of contact for food safety matters, including regulatory inspections, customer complaints, corrective actions, supplier audits, and external certification audits.

Key Responsibilities

Food Safety Management Systems

  • Actively participate in the development, implementation, maintenance, and continual improvement of HACCP and ISO 22000 Food Safety Management Systems across Everyday Goods stores.
  • Implement food safety programs, procedures, standards, and processes in accordance with applicable UAE regulations and company requirements.
  • Develop, review, and update food safety procedures, SOPs, guidelines, manuals, and related documentation based on operational and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure food safety controls are effectively implemented across store operations.

Food Safety Inspections and Audits

  • Plan and conduct regular internal food safety inspections and scheduled audits of stores and related activities.
  • Assess compliance with food hygiene, food handling, storage, receiving, temperature control, cleaning, sanitation, allergen management, and pest control requirements.
  • Identify food safety non-conformities and ensure corrective and preventive actions are implemented within agreed timelines.
  • Follow up on corrective action plans and verify their effectiveness.
  • Prepare detailed audit and inspection reports and communicate findings to relevant stakeholders.

Food Handling, Storage and Display

  • Monitor food receiving practices to ensure products are sourced from approved suppliers and meet specified quality and safety requirements.
  • Verify appropriate storage conditions, temperature controls, product segregation, stock rotation, expiry-date management, and food display practices.
  • Monitor food handling practices to prevent cross-contamination, allergen cross-contact, microbiological hazards, and other food safety risks.
  • Ensure employees follow established food safety SOPs and hygiene practices.
  • Identify potential hazards and recommend appropriate preventive controls.

Food Safety Training

  • Develop and deliver internal food safety training programs for store employees, including:
    • Basic Food Safety
    • HACCP Awareness
    • Food Hygiene
    • Allergen Awareness
    • SOP Awareness
    • Personal Hygiene
    • Cross-Contamination Prevention
    • Safe Food Handling
  • Identify training requirements based on audit findings, employee performance, regulatory requirements, and operational risks.
  • Coordinate external food safety training and certification programs required by the relevant regulatory authorities in each emirate.
  • Evaluate training effectiveness and maintain accurate training records.
  • Conduct on-the-job coaching and refresher training to address identified knowledge and competency gaps.

Supplier Food Safety and Audits

  • Conduct supplier evaluations for new and existing food suppliers, particularly high-risk suppliers.
  • Participate in or conduct supplier food safety audits and on-site assessments.
  • Evaluate supplier compliance with food safety standards, specifications, regulatory requirements, and company policies.
  • Monitor supplier-related food safety risks and recommend corrective actions where required.
  • Support the approval and ongoing monitoring of food suppliers based on food safety performance.

Risk Assessment and Hazard Analysis

  • Conduct periodic food safety risk assessments and hazard analyses for existing and newly introduced products, processes, and operational activities.
  • Assess potential biological, chemical, physical, and allergen hazards.
  • Recommend appropriate preventive and control measures to reduce food safety risks.
  • Review food safety controls when new products, equipment, processes, suppliers, or operational changes are introduced.

Complaints, Incidents and Root Cause Analysis

  • Investigate food safety-related customer complaints, incidents, non-conformities, and regulatory observations.
  • Conduct root cause analysis to determine the underlying causes of food safety issues.
  • Recommend and monitor corrective and preventive actions.
  • Track recurring issues and identify trends requiring additional preventive measures.
  • Support management during food safety incidents and investigations.

Regulatory Compliance

  • Maintain regular communication with relevant UAE regulatory authorities and stay updated on changes to food safety legislation, standards, guidelines, and requirements.
  • Ensure new regulatory requirements are communicated to relevant departments and implemented within the business.
  • Support regulatory inspections and external food safety audits.
  • Maintain documentation and records required for regulatory and certification audits.
  • Act as a key point of contact for food safety-related regulatory matters.

Reporting and Performance Monitoring

  • Monitor food safety performance across stores and identify recurring trends, risks, and areas for improvement.
  • Analyze food safety audit findings, complaints, incidents, training results, and other relevant data.
  • Prepare monthly food safety performance reports for management.
  • Maintain accurate food safety documentation, inspection records, audit reports, training records, corrective action records, and other relevant documentation.
  • Provide recommendations to management to strengthen food safety culture and operational compliance.
