Abu Dhabi Healthcare – Clinical Dietitian and Nutritionist

Abu Dhabi Healthcare Sector is seeking a Clinical Dietitian and Nutritionist with clinical expertise in evidence-based nutrition care, patient counselling, and hospital-based dietetic practice.

Job Responsibilities

Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT)

• Conduct comprehensive nutrition assessments for inpatients and outpatients using the standardized Nutrition Care Process (NCP).
• Develop individualized nutrition diagnoses and intervention plans based on clinical findings and laboratory data.
• Monitor and evaluate patient progress, adjusting nutrition interventions accordingly.
• Ensure all MNT services are aligned with international best practices and facility protocols.

Clinical Documentation & Compliance

• Accurately document all patient assessments, care plans, interventions, and follow-ups in accordance with hospital policies.
• Maintain proper medical records and adhere to institutional documentation standards.
• Practice strictly within approved competencies, departmental policies, and professional privilege limits.

Multidisciplinary Collaboration

• Participate actively in medical rounds and prioritize patients based on clinical needs.
• Communicate individualized nutrition care plans with healthcare team members.
• Liaise daily with ward staff and food service teams to ensure dietary compliance and therapeutic diet implementation.
• Refer complex cases to Senior Dietitians or Supervisors for further clinical guidance when necessary.
• Provide evidence-based nutrition counseling and education to patients and caregivers.
• Contribute to discharge planning by developing home-based nutrition strategies.
• Develop and update patient education materials and dietary guidelines.

Quality Improvement & Professional Development

• Contribute to departmental and hospital-wide Quality Improvement (QI) projects.
• Support departmental business plans and policy implementation initiatives.
• Participate in Continuous Professional Development (CPD) activities to maintain licensure and competency.
• Contribute to public awareness campaigns and institutional outreach initiatives when approved.

Academic & Training Support

• Assist in mentoring and preceptorship of Dietetic Interns and undergraduate Dietetic students.
  • Support academic collaborations and clinical training programs.
• Ensure delivery of high-quality, evidence-based patient care in compliance with departmental standards, protocols, and procedures.
• Maintain accurate and comprehensive documentation of patient care activities.
• Contribute to departmental stewardship and cost-effective healthcare initiatives.
• Support implementation of annual departmental plans and strategic objectives.

Job Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Clinical Dietitian in an acute care hospital setting.
• Candidates must meet one of the following criteria:

• Bachelor of Science in Dietetics

1. OR Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics
2. OR Bachelor of Science in Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics
3. OR Bachelor’s degree in Health Science (major in Nutrition) plus a Postgraduate Diploma or Master’s degree in Dietetics

• Active membership in a recognized Nutrition Society or Professional Association
• Valid National License and/or Professional Registration (UAE or equivalent)
