Biotechnologist – Research Assistant – Research Assistant (Biotechnologist) to support a two-year Strategic Research Grant funded by UAE University (UAEU). This academic research position focuses on investigating neuroprotective mechanisms using advanced cellular models. The role offers hands-on exposure to cell culture, biochemical assays, untargeted metabolomics, and data-driven scientific research, making it ideal for candidates aiming to build a strong research or PhD career in biotechnology or life sciences.
The selected candidate will work closely with principal investigators and research teams, contributing to laboratory experiments, data analysis, scientific reporting, and peer-reviewed publications.
Research Responsibilities
- Support ongoing neurobiology and neuroprotection research projects using in vitro cellular models
- Maintain and culture neuronal cell lines following standard laboratory protocols
- Perform biochemical and cell-based assays, including:
- Cell viability assays
- Oxidative stress assays
- Mitochondrial function assays.
- Conduct Western blot analysis for protein expression and pathway validation
- Prepare biological samples for untargeted metabolomics analysis
- Assist with data interpretation and statistical analysis using research software tools
- Maintain accurate laboratory records, research documentation, and experimental logs
- Manage laboratory inventory, reagents, and consumables
- Support the preparation of scientific manuscripts, journal publications, and conference abstracts
- Ensure full compliance with research safety guidelines, ethical approvals, and laboratory regulations
- Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary academic and research teams.
Job Qualification
- Master’s degree in one of the following disciplines: Biotechnology, Pharmacology, Biochemistry, or a related research-focused discipline.
- Strong hands-on laboratory skills with high attention to detail.
- Proficiency in data analysis and visualization software, including: GraphPad Prism, MS-DIAL ,MetaboAnalys.
- organised lab records and research documentation, such as using LIMS.
