Research Assistant to join a academic research team. This role is ideal for candidates passionate about cell biology, molecular biology, and biomedical research, with hands-on laboratory experience. The successful candidate will support ongoing research projects through mammalian cell culture, molecular biology assays, and advanced bio-imaging techniques, contributing to high-quality scientific outcomes and publications.
Job Responsibilities
- Perform and maintain mammalian cell culture, including routine passaging, cryopreservation, and experimental setup.
- Conduct molecular biology assays, such as real-time PCR (qPCR) and western blotting, to analyze gene and protein expression.
- Support bio-imaging experiments, including sample preparation, image acquisition, and data interpretation.
- Operate and assist with confocal microscopy for cellular and molecular imaging studies.
- Use image analysis software to process and quantify microscopy data.
- Maintain laboratory equipment, instruments, and consumables in compliance with laboratory safety and quality standards.
- Prepare reagents, buffers, and culture media according to established protocols.
- Ensure accurate documentation, data recording, and maintenance of laboratory notebooks and digital records.
- Assist principal investigators and research staff with experimental planning and troubleshooting.
- Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary research teams while demonstrating the ability to work independently.
- Follow good laboratory practices (GLP) and institutional research guidelines.
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Pharmacy, or Biotechnology a closely related life science discipline.
- Proven hands-on experience with cell culture techniques.
- Working knowledge of western blotting, qPCR, and basic molecular biology workflows.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and time management abilities.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a research-focused academic environment.
- Experience with confocal microscopy and advanced imaging techniques.
- Familiarity with image analysis software for quantitative data interpretation.
- Previous experience in an academic or research laboratory setting is an advantage.
