company in Abu Dhabi is seeking a Quality & Hygiene Officer to support the implementation and maintenance of quality assurance, food safety, hygiene, and compliance standards across its food and beverage operations.

The role will be responsible for conducting routine inspections and internal audits, monitoring food safety and hygiene practices, maintaining compliance documentation, supporting external audits, following up on corrective actions, and assisting with staff training and awareness programs.

The successful candidate will play an important role in promoting a strong food safety culture, hygiene excellence, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement across operational locations.

Job Responsibilities

Quality Assurance & Compliance

  • Conduct routine inspections to verify compliance with quality, hygiene, and operational standards.
  • Monitor adherence to SOPs and identify, document, and report non-conformities.
  • Assist in reviewing, updating, and maintaining quality-related procedures and documentation.
  • Support the implementation and monitoring of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Participate in quality improvement and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure operational teams consistently follow established quality and food safety requirements.

Food Safety & Hygiene

  • Monitor food receiving, handling, storage, preparation, and service practices.
  • Ensure compliance with HACCP principles, applicable food safety regulations, and hygiene requirements.
  • Conduct regular hygiene inspections across kitchens, storage areas, preparation areas, and service locations.
  • Monitor cleaning and sanitation schedules and verify their effective implementation.
  • Review temperature monitoring records, food labelling, product identification, and traceability documentation.
  • Identify potential food safety risks and escalate significant issues to management.

Audits & Inspections

  • Conduct internal food safety, hygiene, and compliance audits.
  • Support operational locations in preparing for external audits and regulatory inspections.
  • Follow up on audit findings and monitor timely implementation of corrective actions.
  • Maintain complete and accurate audit records and supporting documentation.
  • Prepare inspection and audit reports and communicate findings to relevant management teams.

Training & Food Safety Awareness

  • Support food safety, hygiene, and quality training programs for operational employees.
  • Conduct toolbox talks and food safety awareness sessions.
  • Promote good personal hygiene and safe food handling practices.
  • Monitor employee compliance with established hygiene requirements.
  • Assist in preparing training materials, guides, and awareness resources.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, audits, non-conformities, and corrective actions.
  • Keep quality, hygiene, and food safety documentation updated and properly organized.
  • Ensure records are readily available for internal and external audits.
  • Prepare periodic quality, hygiene, and compliance reports.
  • Track non-conformities and monitor the effective closure of corrective actions.

Incident & Risk Management

  • Promptly report food safety, hygiene, quality, and compliance violations.
  • Assist in investigating food safety and quality incidents.
  • Support root cause analysis and the implementation of corrective and preventive measures.
  • Maintain records of complaints, incidents, investigations, and follow-up actions.
  • Immediately escalate high-risk food safety or hygiene issues to management.

Supplier & Vendor Monitoring

  • Assist in evaluating supplier compliance with applicable quality and food safety requirements.
  • Support supplier inspections and documentation reviews.
  • Monitor receiving procedures and product quality checks.
  • Identify and report supplier performance or compliance concerns.
  • Maintain supplier quality and compliance records.

Customer Complaints & Service Quality

  • Support investigations into customer complaints involving food quality, hygiene, or food safety.
  • Assist in gathering relevant information and documenting investigation findings.
  • Follow up on corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Contribute to service and operational improvement initiatives based on customer feedback.
  • Help ensure customer concerns are addressed professionally and within the required timeframe.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Participate in committees, projects, and continuous improvement initiatives as assigned.
  • Support environmental, health, safety, and quality-related programs.
  • Act as a Fire Marshal or First Aider where appropriately trained and assigned.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as directed by management.

Job Qualifications

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Microbiology, Hospitality Management, Quality Management, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 2–3 years of relevant experience in Quality Assurance, Food Safety, Hygiene, or a related role within the hospitality or food and beverage sector.
  • HACCP Level 3 or an equivalent food safety certification is preferred.
  • Good knowledge of HACCP principles, food safety requirements, hygiene standards, and applicable regulations.
  • Experience conducting food safety inspections, internal audits, and compliance checks.
  • Good knowledge of quality and food safety documentation and corrective action processes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general computer applications.
  • Good written and spoken English.
