QHSE Officer for a leading catering company in Abu Dhabi, UAE. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining and improving Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental (QHSE) standards across catering operations while ensuring full compliance with UAE food safety regulations, HACCP requirements, and international ISO standards.
This role is ideal for professionals with strong experience in food safety, occupational health & safety, hygiene management, HACCP implementation, and catering compliance within the hospitality, facilities management, or food service industry.
Job Responsibilities
QHSE Compliance & Regulatory Monitoring
- Ensure full compliance with company QHSE policies, client-specific requirements, UAE municipality regulations, food safety laws, HACCP principles, ISO 22000 standards, occupational health & safety regulations, and other applicable ISO management systems.
- Monitor adherence to local authority guidelines related to food handling, catering hygiene, sanitation, waste management, and workplace safety.
- Support continuous compliance with internal and external QHSE standards across all catering operations and production facilities.
Food Safety & Hygiene Management
- Conduct regular food safety inspections, hygiene audits, sanitation checks, and operational risk assessments to identify hazards and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
- Monitor Critical Control Points (CCPs) including:
- Cooking temperatures
- Hot holding procedures
- Chilling and freezing processes
- Food transportation temperatures
- Cold chain monitoring
- Temperature record verification
- Ensure proper food storage practices, allergen control systems, product labeling, FIFO/FEFO implementation, segregation procedures, and contamination prevention measures are maintained.
- Verify cleaning and sanitation schedules, pest control activities, and personal hygiene compliance among food handlers and catering staff.
Health, Safety & Environmental Monitoring
- Monitor workplace safety practices and ensure employees comply with occupational health and safety procedures.
- Ensure proper use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and verify the availability of safety equipment across all operational locations.
- Conduct safety inspections, hazard identification exercises, and environmental monitoring activities.
- Promote environmental sustainability initiatives, waste segregation procedures, and environmentally responsible operational practices.
Incident Investigation & Corrective Actions
- Investigate workplace incidents, accidents, near misses, food contamination cases, customer complaints, and non-conformities.
- Prepare incident investigation reports and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to avoid recurrence.
- Maintain records of safety violations, corrective actions, and food safety incidents for audit and compliance purposes.
Audits, Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate QHSE documentation including:
- Audit reports
- Inspection checklists
- Compliance records
- Permits and licenses
- Temperature logs
- Training records
- Risk assessments
- Corrective action reports
- Assist during client inspections, municipality audits, ISO audits, regulatory authority visits, microbiological testing, traceability exercises, and food recall activities.
- Prepare monthly QHSE reports, KPI analysis, compliance statistics, and management review reports.
Training & Employee Awareness
- Conduct food safety training, hygiene awareness sessions, toolbox talks, safety inductions, and competency assessments for employees and food handlers.
- Educate staff on HACCP procedures, workplace safety practices, emergency response procedures, and infection prevention measures.
- Promote a positive safety culture and encourage continuous improvement across all departments.
Emergency Preparedness & Business Continuity
- Participate in emergency drills, evacuation exercises, and incident response activities.
- Support business continuity planning and crisis management initiatives within catering operations.
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Technology, or a related field.
- Certifications
- NEBOSH certification preferred
- IOSH certification preferred
- HACCP Level 3 or Food Safety certifications will be an added advantage
- Minimum 2–4 years of experience as a QHSE Officer, Food Safety Officer, HSE Officer, or Hygiene Officer in:
- Catering companies
- Facilities Management
- Hospitality industry
- Food manufacturing
- Institutional catering operations
- Strong knowledge of UAE QHSE regulations, HACCP systems, ISO 22000, ISO 45001, and food safety compliance requirements. Excellent understanding of food hygiene, sanitation procedures, risk assessment, and workplace safety management.
