Quality Control & Hygiene Officer to join a growing hospitality and food service operations in Abu Dhabi, UAE. The ideal candidate will play a key role in maintaining food safety, hygiene, sanitation, and quality assurance standards across all food handling and production areas. This position is ideal for professionals with experience in HACCP, ISO 22000, food hygiene inspections, and regulatory compliance within the hospitality, catering, restaurant, or food manufacturing industry.
The successful candidate will support daily food safety operations, conduct hygiene audits, maintain compliance documentation, and ensure adherence to UAE food safety regulations and international quality standards.
Job Responsibilities
- Assist in implementing and maintaining food safety, hygiene, and quality control policies, procedures, and standards across all operational departments.
- Conduct routine hygiene inspections, sanitation audits, and daily walk-throughs of kitchens, food preparation areas, storage facilities, and production sections.
- Monitor compliance with HACCP principles, ISO 22000 food safety management systems, GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), and UAE municipality food safety regulations.
- Maintain and update food safety records, hygiene checklists, temperature logs, sanitation reports, pest control records, and quality documentation.
- Support internal audits, third-party inspections, and external certification audits by ensuring all required documents and operational practices are audit-ready.
- Identify non-conformities, hygiene violations, and food safety risks, and follow up on corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Coordinate microbiological and environmental sampling activities with approved third-party laboratories.
- Ensure accurate filing, documentation control, and record management in line with company procedures and food safety standards.
- Assist in investigating customer complaints related to food quality, hygiene concerns, contamination issues, and food poisoning incidents.
- Prepare hygiene reports, inspection summaries, corrective action reports, and regular updates for management review.
- Support food safety risk assessments and recommend continuous improvement initiatives for hygiene and sanitation practices.
- Participate in food safety and hygiene committee meetings, maintain meeting minutes, and track action plans.
- Conduct food hygiene awareness sessions and refresher training programs for staff when certified to do so.
- Maintain updated hygiene training records, staff certifications, and compliance documentation.
- Monitor supplier hygiene compliance and assist in supplier quality and hygiene audits when required.
- Ensure proper implementation of cleaning schedules, sanitation procedures, waste management systems, and pest control programs.
- Coordinate hygiene-related laboratory testing and communicate test results to relevant departments in a timely manner.
- Support inventory monitoring and distribution of hygiene chemicals, PPE, sanitation tools, and food safety equipment.
- Promote food safety culture, hygiene awareness, and best practices among employees and operational teams.
- Perform additional duties assigned by the Head Chef, QA Manager, Food Safety Manager, or General Manager.
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Food Science, Food Technology, Microbiology, Quality Assurance, Biotechnology, or a related field.
- HACCP Level 3, ISO 22000, Food Safety, or Hygiene certifications will be an added advantage.
- Strong understanding of food safety systems, hygiene standards, sanitation procedures, and quality control practices.
- Knowledge of UAE food safety regulations, municipality requirements, and international food safety standards.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Good report writing, documentation, and record management skills.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced hospitality or food production environment.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience in Quality Control, Food Safety, Hygiene, or Quality Assurance within the hospitality, catering, restaurant, or food manufacturing industry.
- Hands-on experience in HACCP implementation, hygiene inspections, food safety audits, and sanitation monitoring is preferred.
- Experience handling audit documentation, food safety compliance, and corrective action follow-up will be highly beneficial.
