Food Technology Teacher wanted for the Secondary/High School department in Abu Dhabi, UAE. This is an excellent opportunity for educators specialising in food science, nutrition, and practical cookery to join a dynamic British curriculum school in the UAE.

The ideal candidate will deliver engaging, hands-on and theory-based lessons aligned with the UK National Curriculum, inspiring students to develop essential life skills in food preparation, nutrition awareness, and food safety practices. You will also play a key role in maintaining high standards of kitchen hygiene, health & safety, and student wellbeing.

Job Responsibilities

Teaching & Learning

  • Plan and deliver high-quality Food Technology lessons aligned with the British curriculum
  • Teach key topics including nutrition, food science, healthy eating, food safety, and culinary skills
  • Conduct practical cooking sessions while ensuring strict adherence to HACCP and kitchen safety standards
  • Differentiate lesson plans to meet diverse student learning needs and abilities
  • Use innovative teaching strategies to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes

Student Development & Assessment

  • Monitor and assess student progress using both formative and summative assessment methods
  • Maintain accurate records of student performance, attainment, and progress
  • Support students’ academic, social, and emotional development
  • Provide constructive feedback to students and parents on a regular basis

Classroom & Department Management

  • Maintain a safe, clean, and well-organized food technology lab/kitchen environment
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and hygiene regulations
  • Manage classroom behavior effectively and promote a positive learning environment

Collaboration & School Engagement

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues on curriculum planning and development
  • Participate in school events, extracurricular activities, and staff meetings
  • Engage in continuous professional development and training programs
  • Build strong relationships with parents, guardians, and the wider school community

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education (B.Ed.) OR a relevant degree in Food Technology, Nutrition, or Food Science with PGCE and QTS
  • Minimum 2 years of teaching experience in a British curriculum school (secondary level preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of food technology concepts, nutrition, and practical cookery skills
  • Experience managing a food lab/kitchen environment with safety compliance
  • Excellent classroom management, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to differentiate instruction for diverse learning needs
  • ADEK-approved teaching certification is an advantage
  • Passion for teaching and inspiring students in food education and healthy living
