A leading company in the food trading and dairy industry in Abu Dhabi is looking for a Laboratory Technician to join its quality assurance and food safety team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for conducting laboratory analysis and microbiological testing of dairy products to ensure compliance with food safety standards, quality specifications, and regulatory requirements. This role is ideal for professionals with strong experience in dairy factory laboratories, food testing procedures, and quality control systems within the FMCG or dairy manufacturing sector.
Job Responsibilities
- Conduct accurate laboratory testing and analysis of raw milk, in-process dairy samples, and finished dairy products following approved laboratory procedures and standard operating protocols.
- Perform physico-chemical analysis including fat, protein, moisture, acidity, SNF, density, and other critical dairy quality parameters.
- Carry out microbiological testing such as total plate count, coliform analysis, yeast and mold testing, and pathogen detection to ensure product safety and compliance with food safety regulations.
- Monitor product quality throughout the production process and identify deviations from quality standards or food safety requirements.
- Operate, calibrate, clean, and maintain laboratory instruments and testing equipment including automated analyzers, incubators, centrifuges, pH meters, and microbiological testing systems.
- Prepare laboratory reagents, culture media, testing solutions, and sample materials with precision and consistency.
- Maintain accurate laboratory records, test reports, calibration logs, and quality documentation in accordance with HACCP, ISO 22000, GMP, and food safety management systems.
- Support internal quality assurance activities by conducting routine quality control checks and assisting in food safety audits and inspections.
- Ensure compliance with hygiene, sanitation, and laboratory safety standards at all times.
- Coordinate with production, quality assurance, and food safety teams to resolve quality-related issues and improve product consistency.
- Assist in investigating non-conformance reports, product complaints, and microbiological deviations.
- Follow proper sample handling, storage, and disposal procedures to maintain laboratory integrity and prevent contamination.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to dairy quality control, laboratory efficiency, and food safety performance.
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Dairy Technology, Food Science, Microbiology, Food Technology, Biotechnology, or a related scientific discipline.
- Minimum 2 years of experience working in a dairy laboratory, dairy manufacturing plant, milk processing facility, or food testing laboratory.
- Strong hands-on experience in physico-chemical analysis and microbiological testing of dairy and food products.
- Solid understanding of dairy quality assurance procedures, food safety systems, and laboratory quality control processes.
- Knowledge of HACCP, GMP, ISO 22000, food hygiene standards, and laboratory best practices within the dairy or FMCG industry.
- Experience operating laboratory testing equipment and automated dairy analyzers with accuracy and efficiency.
- Familiarity with sample preparation, laboratory documentation, and calibration procedures.
- Relevant certifications such as Certified Dairy Inspector (CDI), food safety certifications, or laboratory quality certifications will be an added advantage.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and reporting skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced dairy production or food trading environment.
- Good communication and teamwork skills with the ability to coordinate across quality, production, and food safety departments.
