A laboratory in Abu Dhabi is seeking a Sample Coordinator to support its Microbiology Department. The role is responsible for coordinating the flow of samples from receipt through testing and report delivery while maintaining sample integrity, accurate documentation, and compliance with client and regulatory requirements, including applicable Dubai Municipality requirements.

Job Responsibilities

  • Receive and verify samples to ensure the sample details, quantities, labels, and accompanying documentation are accurate.
  • Maintain sample integrity throughout the receipt, handling, storage, and transfer process.
  • Check and maintain essential laboratory documentation, including Test Request Forms, Sample Report Forms, and Chain of Custody records.
  • Maintain an accurate sample log containing sample type, client details, date of receipt, request number, and current status.
  • Manage the Annual Maintenance Contract (AMC) schedule and coordinate sample collection requirements with clients.
  • Coordinate with Samplers regarding sample collection schedules, logistics, and daily requirements.
  • Submit received samples to the relevant Unit Heads on a daily basis for further processing and testing.

  • Coordinate with laboratory Data Feeders to support the completion and processing of test reports.
  • Prepare weekly Microbiology reports in accordance with applicable Dubai Municipality requirements.
  • Monitor sample status and follow up on pending activities to support timely report delivery.
  • Ensure laboratory records and sample-related documentation are maintained accurately and systematically.
  • Follow applicable laboratory procedures, quality requirements, client specifications, and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities assigned by the Laboratory Manager.

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Microbiology, Food Science, Food Technology, Biotechnology, or a related field is preferred.
  • Previous experience in laboratory sample coordination, microbiology, food testing, environmental testing, or a related laboratory environment is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of sample handling, laboratory documentation, and chain-of-custody procedures.
  • Good organizational and record-keeping skills.
  • Ability to coordinate effectively with clients, samplers, laboratory teams, and department heads.
  • Familiarity with laboratory reports and regulatory documentation requirements.
  • Knowledge of Dubai Municipality requirements related to microbiological testing and laboratory reporting is an advantage.
  • Good communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple samples, schedules, and documentation requirements efficiently.
