Food Safety Supervisor to join a supermarket operations in Dubai, UAE. This role is ideal for a highly motivated food safety professional with strong leadership, auditing, and quality assurance experience in the retail food industry. The successful candidate will oversee food safety and quality operations across multiple supermarket branches, ensuring full compliance with UAE food safety regulations, HACCP principles, international food safety management systems, and company standards.

The Food Safety Supervisor will lead a team of Food Safety Inspectors, conduct operational audits, analyze quality and food safety data, manage customer complaints and product recalls, and implement continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen food safety culture across all locations.

Job Responsibilities

Supervise Food Safety & Quality Operations

  • Lead, supervise, and mentor Food Safety and Quality Inspectors across multiple supermarket branches.
  • Plan, coordinate, and monitor daily, weekly, and monthly food safety inspection schedules.
  • Allocate inspection responsibilities to ensure effective coverage across all retail locations.
  • Monitor inspector performance and ensure all audits are completed accurately and on time.
  • Provide coaching, technical guidance, and continuous performance feedback to the inspection team.
  • Ensure consistent implementation of company food safety policies and operational procedures across all stores.

Conduct Food Safety Audits & Quality Inspections

  • Oversee routine and surprise food safety inspections throughout supermarket operations.
  • Monitor food safety practices during receiving, storage, processing, preparation, packaging, display, and sale of food products.
  • Verify compliance with HACCP plans, GMP, GHP, sanitation procedures, temperature monitoring, and hygiene standards.
  • Conduct calibration audits to assess the effectiveness and consistency of inspection activities.
  • Review audit reports for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with internal standards.
  • Identify non-conformities and ensure timely implementation of Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
  • Monitor follow-up activities until all audit findings have been effectively closed.

Regulatory Compliance & Food Safety Management Systems

  • Ensure full compliance with Dubai Municipality food safety regulations and UAE food legislation.
  • Maintain compliance with Food Safety Management Systems (FSMS) and company quality standards.
  • Support implementation and maintenance of:
    • HACCP
    • ISO 22000 Food Safety Management System
    • ISO 45001 Occupational Health & Safety
    • ISO 14001 Environmental Management
    • Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
    • Good Hygiene Practices (GHP)
  • Act as the primary contact during regulatory inspections and third-party audits.
  • Review regulatory inspection findings and coordinate appropriate corrective actions.
  • Ensure all documentation, records, and compliance reports are maintained according to legal requirements.

Customer Complaint, Incident & Product Recall Management

  • Lead investigations into food safety incidents, customer complaints, and product quality issues.
  • Perform root cause analysis using structured problem-solving methodologies.
  • Review investigation findings and verify the effectiveness of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Coordinate product recall activities and ensure rapid execution according to company procedures.
  • Monitor recall effectiveness and verify proper documentation throughout the recall process.
  • Escalate critical food safety risks and compliance issues to the QHSE Manager.
  • Prepare detailed incident reports and recommend preventive measures to minimize future risks.

Food Safety Data Analysis & Performance Reporting

  • Analyze food safety inspection results, audit findings, customer complaints, and non-conformance reports to identify recurring trends.
  • Monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), including:
    • Food safety audit scores
    • Inspection compliance rates
    • CAPA closure performance
    • Customer complaint trends
    • Product recall effectiveness
    • Regulatory compliance status
  • Prepare comprehensive weekly and monthly management reports.
  • Present analytical findings and recommendations to senior management.
  • Utilize data-driven decision-making to improve food safety performance across all supermarket locations.

Training & Food Safety Culture

  • Develop and deliver food safety training programs for supermarket employees.
  • Conduct HACCP awareness sessions and hygiene training for operational teams.
  • Educate staff on food handling, allergen management, cleaning and sanitation procedures, temperature control, and personal hygiene.
  • Promote a proactive food safety culture throughout the organization.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives that enhance operational quality and regulatory compliance.
  • Assist department managers in implementing best food safety practices.

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Food Technology, Food Science, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Dairy Technology, Nutrition, Agriculture, or a related discipline from a recognized and accredited university.
  • Diploma in Food Safety or an equivalent qualification.
  • NEBOSH International General Certificate (IGC) is highly preferred.
  • HACCP certification is mandatory.
  • Additional certifications in ISO 22000, Internal Auditor, Lead Auditor, GMP, GHP, or Food Safety Management Systems will be considered an advantage.

Experience – Food Safety Supervisor Supermarket

  • Minimum 5–8 years of experience in Food Safety, Quality Assurance (QA), Quality Control (QC), Food Inspection, or Food Safety Auditing.
  • At least 2 years of supervisory or team leadership experience.
  • Previous experience in supermarkets, hypermarkets, retail food chains, food manufacturing, food distribution, or FMCG industries is highly preferred.
  • Hands-on experience managing regulatory inspections, internal audits, CAPA programs, and food safety compliance.
  • Experience working within UAE food safety regulations is a strong advantage.
