Quality Intern to join a Quality Assurance and Food Safety team in Bengaluru – Food Manufacturing Industry. This internship offers an excellent opportunity for fresh graduates and final-year students in Food Technology, Dairy Technology, Food Science, Nutrition, or related disciplines to gain practical experience in food quality management, food safety systems, quality control processes, and regulatory compliance within a food manufacturing environment.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Quality Assurance, Production, and Food Safety teams to ensure that products consistently meet company quality standards, customer requirements, and food safety regulations.

Job Responsibilities

Raw Material and Packaging Quality Inspection

  • Assist in inspecting incoming raw materials, ingredients, and packaging materials to verify compliance with quality specifications and food safety requirements.
  • Perform visual inspections, sampling, and basic quality checks on received materials.
  • Report any non-conformities or deviations to the Quality Assurance team for corrective action.

In-Process Quality Control

  • Monitor production activities and perform routine quality checks during manufacturing operations.
  • Verify critical control points (CCPs), process parameters, and product specifications throughout the production process.
  • Support production teams in maintaining consistent product quality and batch uniformity.
  • Record observations and quality data accurately according to established procedures.

Finished Product Evaluation

  • Conduct physical, sensory, and quality assessments of finished food products.
  • Ensure products meet established quality standards, customer requirements, and regulatory guidelines before release.
  • Assist in product sampling, retention sample management, and quality verification activities.

Documentation and SOP Management

  • Maintain accurate quality records, inspection reports, monitoring logs, and laboratory documentation.
  • Assist in reviewing, updating, and implementing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and quality manuals.
  • Ensure proper document control practices are followed in accordance with company quality systems.

Quality Issue Investigation

  • Support investigations related to product quality deviations, customer complaints, and non-conforming products.
  • Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective and preventive action (CAPA) activities.
  • Assist in identifying opportunities for continuous improvement in quality processes.

Food Safety and Hygiene Compliance

  • Coordinate with production, sanitation, and maintenance teams to ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Good Hygiene Practices (GHP), and food safety standards.
  • Monitor hygiene practices, personnel sanitation, and facility cleanliness.
  • Assist in verifying cleaning and sanitation effectiveness through inspections and monitoring activities.

Environmental Monitoring and Validation

  • Support environmental monitoring programs and cleaning validation activities.
  • Review sanitation records and assist in analyzing environmental monitoring data.
  • Help ensure food production areas maintain high standards of cleanliness and contamination control.

Audit and Certification Support

  • Prepare and organize documentation required for internal audits, customer audits, and external certification audits.
  • Assist in maintaining compliance with HACCP, ISO 22000, FSSC 22000, BRCGS, and other food safety management systems where applicable.
  • Support audit preparation and follow-up activities.

Reporting and Data Analysis

  • Compile quality data and prepare routine quality reports and summaries.
  • Assist in analyzing trends related to product quality, customer complaints, and process performance.
  • Present findings and recommendations to the Quality Assurance team when required.

Training and Awareness

  • Support quality awareness initiatives across the facility.
  • Assist in conducting training sessions on food safety, hygiene practices, quality standards, and operational procedures.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and food safety compliance throughout the organization.

Product Traceability and Recall Support

  • Assist in maintaining product traceability records and documentation.
  • Support mock recall exercises and product recall management procedures.
  • Ensure accurate recordkeeping to facilitate effective traceability throughout the supply chain.

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in Food Technology, Dairy Technology, Food Science, Food Engineering, Nutrition, Microbiology, or a related field.
  • Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply.
  • Internship, academic project, laboratory, or industrial training experience in food manufacturing will be an added advantage.

Required Skills

  • Basic knowledge of Food Safety Management Systems (FSMS).
  • Understanding of HACCP, GMP, GHP, and quality control principles.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Good documentation and record-keeping skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Willingness to learn and work in a fast-paced food production environment.
