A leading retail supermarket chain in Dubai is looking for a Junior Quality Assurance Officer – Food Factory to support food safety, quality control, and compliance activities across its food manufacturing operations. The role is responsible for ensuring that all products, processes, and production environments consistently meet HACCP, ISO 22000, GMP, Dubai Municipality, and internal food safety standards.

The successful candidate will conduct quality inspections, monitor hygiene practices, perform product checks, maintain documentation, investigate non-conformities, and work closely with production teams to implement corrective and preventive actions. Job Responsibilities

Daily Quality Inspection & Compliance Monitoring

  • Conduct daily factory inspections before production starts to ensure food manufacturing areas are clean, safe, and ready for operations.
  • Perform routine quality checks across production departments to verify compliance with approved procedures, work instructions, and food safety requirements.
  • Monitor production activities, storage conditions, employee hygiene practices, and operational controls.
  • Inspect work-in-progress (WIP) products and finished goods to ensure they meet approved specifications, recipes, and quality standards.
  • Identify quality deviations and report non-conformities to the QA Technologist and relevant departments.

Food Safety System Implementation

  • Support the Food Safety Team Leader in maintaining and implementing food safety management systems including:
    • HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points)
    • GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices)
    • ISO 22000 Food Safety Management System
  • Assist in investigating food safety incidents, deviations, and customer complaints.
  • Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.
  • Follow up on corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to ensure effective closure.
  • Ensure availability of trained personnel including Person in Charge (PIC), First Aider, and Fire Fighter during operations.

Hygiene Monitoring & Microbiological Testing

  • Prepare and maintain schedules for hygiene verification activities including ATP swab testing.
  • Conduct hygiene inspections of production areas, equipment, utensils, and storage facilities.
  • Verify sanitation effectiveness and compliance with cleaning schedules.
  • Support microbiological sampling and testing activities as required.
  • Monitor environmental hygiene practices to prevent contamination risks.

Quality Audits & Surprise Inspections

  • Conduct regular and surprise quality audits across different factory departments.
  • Perform cross-functional inspections to ensure compliance with food safety requirements.
  • Identify potential risks outside assigned areas and report findings.
  • Support internal audits, third-party audits, and regulatory inspections.

Product Approval & Release

  • Inspect finished products before dispatch to ensure compliance with quality specifications.
  • Approve or reject products based on established standards, recipes, and food safety requirements.
  • Verify production batches and processes meet required quality parameters.
  • Ensure only approved products are released for distribution.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate records including:
    • Quality inspection reports
    • Hygiene audit records
    • ATP testing results
    • Non-conformance reports
    • Corrective action records
    • Product approval documentation
  • Prepare daily quality reports and communicate findings to QA management.
  • Support preparation for customer, internal, municipal, and certification audits.

Training & Team Support

  • Provide guidance and awareness training to production employees regarding:
    • Personal hygiene
    • Food safety practices
    • GMP requirements
    • Workplace cleanliness
  • Encourage a strong food safety culture among factory teams.
  • Recommend corrective actions for food safety and quality issues within assigned responsibilities.
  • Conduct unannounced inspections and compliance checks.
  • Approve or hold products based on food safety and quality requirements.
  • Escalate critical food safety risks immediately.
  • Support decision-making during quality-related issues affecting production or dispatch.

Job Qualifications

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Food Technology, Food Science, Microbiology, Biotechnology, or related discipline.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Quality Assurance / Quality Control within a food manufacturing environment.
  • Practical knowledge of:
    • HACCP principles
    • GMP requirements
    • ISO 22000 Food Safety Management System
    • Food hygiene practices
    • Quality inspection procedures
  • Experience in food production factories, central kitchens, FMCG, or retail food manufacturing preferred.
  • Knowledge of Dubai Municipality food safety regulations is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with microbiological testing, hygiene monitoring, and laboratory practices preferred.
  • Strong documentation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently, perform inspections, and communicate effectively with production teams.

Preferred Certifications

  • HACCP Level 2 / Level 3 Certification
  • Basic Food Hygiene Certification
  • ISO 22000 Internal Auditor Certification
  • Food Safety Management System Training
