The ideal candidate will deliver engaging, hands-on and theory-based lessons aligned with the UK National Curriculum, inspiring students to develop essential life skills in food preparation, nutrition awareness, and food safety practices. You will also play a key role in maintaining high standards of kitchen hygiene, health & safety, and student wellbeing.
Job Responsibilities
Teaching & Learning
- Plan and deliver high-quality Food Technology lessons aligned with the British curriculum
- Teach key topics including nutrition, food science, healthy eating, food safety, and culinary skills
- Conduct practical cooking sessions while ensuring strict adherence to HACCP and kitchen safety standards
- Differentiate lesson plans to meet diverse student learning needs and abilities
- Use innovative teaching strategies to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes
Student Development & Assessment
- Monitor and assess student progress using both formative and summative assessment methods
- Maintain accurate records of student performance, attainment, and progress
- Support students’ academic, social, and emotional development
- Provide constructive feedback to students and parents on a regular basis
Classroom & Department Management
- Maintain a safe, clean, and well-organized food technology lab/kitchen environment
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and hygiene regulations
- Manage classroom behavior effectively and promote a positive learning environment
Collaboration & School Engagement
- Work collaboratively with colleagues on curriculum planning and development
- Participate in school events, extracurricular activities, and staff meetings
- Engage in continuous professional development and training programs
- Build strong relationships with parents, guardians, and the wider school community
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Education (B.Ed.) OR a relevant degree in Food Technology, Nutrition, or Food Science with PGCE and QTS
- Minimum 2 years of teaching experience in a British curriculum school (secondary level preferred)
- Strong knowledge of food technology concepts, nutrition, and practical cookery skills
- Experience managing a food lab/kitchen environment with safety compliance
- Excellent classroom management, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to differentiate instruction for diverse learning needs
- ADEK-approved teaching certification is an advantage
- Passion for teaching and inspiring students in food education and healthy living
