A leading global food ingredients company is looking for a talented Junior Food Technologist to support its product development team in creating innovative food solutions, improving formulations, conducting laboratory testing, and assisting with customer projects. Junior Food Technologist Job Responsibilities
As a Junior Food Technologist, you will assist the Research & Development (R&D) team throughout the product development lifecycle, from concept creation to commercialization. Your key responsibilities include:
Product Development and Food Innovation
- Assist in developing, reformulating, and improving food products and ingredient systems.
- Support new product development (NPD) projects by preparing formulations and evaluating product performance.
- Conduct laboratory trials for seasonings, sauces, marinades, coating systems, and other food applications.
- Participate in recipe optimization and formulation improvements.
- Assist senior food technologists with technical problem-solving and product enhancements.
- Observe food processing operations and recommend improvements where appropriate.
- Support commercialization activities for newly developed products.
Food Product Evaluation and Sensory Analysis
- Perform sensory evaluation of raw materials, ingredients, and finished food products.
- Evaluate product quality, taste, texture, aroma, appearance, and consistency.
- Conduct comparative product testing and benchmark competitor products.
- Record observations and prepare evaluation reports.
- Assist with shelf-life studies and product stability assessments.

Laboratory Testing and Sample Preparation
- Prepare laboratory samples according to standard operating procedures.
- Operate laboratory instruments and food testing equipment safely.
- Maintain laboratory hygiene and comply with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
- Ensure laboratory equipment is calibrated, cleaned, and maintained.
- Assist in conducting food quality tests and analytical evaluations.
- Support pilot plant trials and manufacturing validations.
Research and Development Support
- Assist in food research projects involving new ingredients and innovative technologies.
- Participate in brainstorming sessions for new product concepts.
- Evaluate ingredient functionality and processing characteristics.
- Conduct experimental trials under the supervision of senior R&D professionals.
- Document research findings and technical observations.
- Support continuous product improvement initiatives.
Customer Technical Support
- Prepare food samples for customer evaluations and product presentations.
- Assist with customer demonstrations and technical product showcases.
- Support technical inquiries related to food formulations and ingredient applications.
- Help develop customized food solutions for customer requirements.
- Coordinate with sales and technical teams during customer projects.
Technical Documentation
- Maintain accurate laboratory notebooks and development records.
- Prepare technical reports, project summaries, formulation documents, and presentations.
- Update product specifications and technical data sheets.
- Record experimental data and maintain R&D documentation.
- Ensure documentation complies with company quality standards.
Manufacturing and Commercialization Support
- Assist production teams during pilot and commercial manufacturing trials.
- Observe manufacturing processes and collect technical data.
- Help validate formulations before commercial production.
- Support process optimization initiatives.
- Participate in product scale-up activities from laboratory to factory production.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Research & Development, Quality Assurance, Production, Procurement, Regulatory Affairs, Sales, and Marketing teams.
- Collaborate with suppliers regarding ingredients and technical information.
- Participate in cross-functional meetings to support product development projects.
- Build effective relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners.
Continuous Learning and Professional Development
- Stay updated with emerging food technologies and ingredient innovations.
- Learn about global food industry trends and consumer preferences.
- Attend internal technical training sessions and professional development programs.
- Continuously improve technical knowledge in food science, food processing, and product development.
Job Qualifications
Candidates applying for the Junior Food Technologist position should possess:
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Technology, Food Science, Food Engineering, Nutrition, Food Processing, or a related discipline.
- Fresh graduates or candidates with 0–2 years of experience in food manufacturing or food R&D are encouraged to apply.
- Basic understanding of food product development and food formulation.
- Knowledge of ingredient functionality and food processing techniques.
- Familiarity with laboratory testing procedures and food analysis methods.
- Understanding of sensory evaluation techniques.
