Fresh food retail and grocery e-commerce organization in Dubai is looking for a Quality Specialist to support quality control, fresh produce inspection, packaging compliance, and operational quality across stores, fulfillment hubs, and vendor locations.

The role focuses on maintaining high-quality standards for meat, seafood, fruits, vegetables, eggs, dairy, and other fresh and perishable products throughout the inbound, storage, picking, packing, and dispatch processes.

The successful candidate will conduct quality inspections, identify damaged or defective products, monitor packaging practices, audit storage bins, maintain accurate quality records, and support continuous improvement across daily operations.

Job Responsibilities

  • Inspect the quality and condition of fresh and perishable products received at stores, fulfillment hubs, and approved vendor locations.
  • Conduct inbound quality checks for meat, seafood, fruits, vegetables, eggs, dairy products, and other fresh food categories.
  • Verify products against established quality specifications, handling requirements, and operational standards.
  • Identify products that are damaged, defective, spoiled, deteriorated, incorrectly packed, or otherwise unsuitable for acceptance.
  • Reject non-conforming products and coordinate their return to the relevant vendor or supplier.
  • Maintain accurate records of products rejected during inbound inspections.
  • Document rejected items by product, vendor, quantity, rejection reason, and other relevant quality information.
  • Monitor recurring quality issues and highlight supplier or product-level trends to relevant stakeholders.
  • Conduct quality audits during the picking and packing process to ensure products are handled correctly.
  • Verify that associates follow approved food handling, quality, hygiene, and operational procedures.
  • Monitor packaging standards to ensure fresh and perishable products are appropriately packed, protected, labelled, and prepared for delivery.
  • Check that packaging practices minimize product damage, contamination, leakage, deterioration, and quality loss.
  • Perform daily audits of storage bins and operational areas to identify quality or handling concerns.

  • Prepare and share daily and weekly quality reports with relevant internal stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate quality data, inspection records, audit findings, rejection records, and corrective action information.
  • Identify recurring operational quality problems and support root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Work closely with store, fulfillment, operations, vendor, and quality teams to resolve product and process-related issues.
  • Conduct training sessions for store and fulfillment hub associates on quality standards, SOPs, food handling, packaging requirements, and product inspection procedures.
  • Support implementation and continuous improvement of quality control procedures across fresh food operations.
  • Escalate significant quality, food safety, packaging, or supplier-related concerns through the appropriate channels.
  • Maintain a professional and collaborative relationship with internal teams and external vendors.
  • Support additional quality and operational activities as required by the business.
  • Travel to different stores, fulfillment hubs, or vendor locations when required.
  • Work a flexible schedule that may include weekends, nights, or public holidays, while maintaining a working schedule within applicable weekly working-hour requirements.

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Technology, Food Science, Food Safety, Quality Management, Agriculture, Biology, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 1 year of relevant work experience in fresh produce and fresh perishable products is mandatory.
  • Practical knowledge of quality inspection for fresh food and perishable categories.
  • Experience in fresh produce, grocery retail, food distribution, food processing, food e-commerce, or supply chain quality operations is advantageous.
  • Good understanding of food quality, hygiene, handling, storage, and packaging requirements.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Good data-handling and reporting skills with a high level of accuracy.
  • Ability to maintain detailed inspection and audit records.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify quality deviations quickly.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced operational environment.
  • Willingness to work flexible schedules, including weekends, nights, and holidays.
  • Ability to travel between operational sites and vendor locations when required.

Preferred Certifications

Candidates with one or more of the following certifications will have an added advantage:

  • PIC Level 3 Certificate
  • HACCP Certification
  • ISO 22000 Food Safety Management System
  • Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) Training
