An Education Academy in Sharjah is seeking an experienced Child Nutrition Technician – Child Protection & Care to support the delivery of safe, healthy, and age-appropriate nutrition programmes across government nurseries.
The role focuses on child nutrition, food safety, food quality monitoring, nutrition education, healthy nursery environments, and family engagement. The successful candidate will work closely with nursery teams and other departments to ensure that nutrition practices comply with applicable national and international standards and contribute to children’s physical, cognitive, and overall development.
Job Responsibilities
Food Quality, Nutrition & Food Safety
- Ensure high standards of food quality and food safety across nursery facilities in line with applicable national requirements.
- Support the development, implementation, monitoring, and periodic review of policies and procedures related to children’s nutrition.
- Conduct regular on-site and virtual follow-up visits to assess nutrition and food safety practices.
- Prepare detailed reports and recommendations for the direct supervisor.
- Maintain accurate nutrition-related documentation, records, and databases.
- Monitor current research, developments, and best practices in early childhood nutrition.
- Conduct periodic surveys to evaluate the quality and effectiveness of nutrition-related services.
- Analyse feedback from employees, families, and the wider community to identify strengths, gaps, and improvement opportunities.
- Develop evidence-based recommendations using relevant data and analysis.
Healthy Environment & Child Wellbeing
- Support initiatives that provide children with regular opportunities for movement, exercise, and active play.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of safe, healthy, and stimulating nursery environments.
- Support the implementation of policies and programmes related to children’s physical activity, nutrition, health, and wellbeing.
- Develop integrated nutrition plans for the provision of healthy daily meals based on children’s nutritional requirements.
- Consider individual dietary requirements, nutritional needs, allergies, and other relevant differences when supporting meal planning.

Nutrition Awareness, Training & Family Engagement
- Train and support nursery staff on healthy nutrition, food safety, hygiene, and appropriate food-handling practices.
- Develop and deliver nutrition awareness sessions and training programmes for nursery employees.
- Conduct workshops, awareness campaigns, and educational initiatives for parents and educational staff.
- Promote healthy eating habits and positive nutritional practices both within nurseries and at home.
- Provide reliable nutrition-related information and guidance to employees and families.
- Maintain effective communication channels for responding to nutrition-related enquiries.
Nursery Operations & Coordination
- Coordinate with relevant departments to support integrated nutrition, health, safety, and child-wellbeing services.
- Support the regular updating and maintenance of children’s information and relevant databases.
- Assist in monitoring children or cases identified as potentially at risk, within the scope of the role.
- Support appropriate preventive, social, or psychological interventions in coordination with relevant specialists and departments.
- Prepare internal correspondence, reports, presentations, and other departmental documentation.
- Maintain accurate, organised, and accessible records.
- Perform other duties assigned by the department head according to operational requirements.
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, Food Science, Public Health, Medical Sciences, Biological Sciences, Early Childhood, or a closely related discipline.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant professional experience, preferably in early childhood nutrition, public health, nursery environments, educational institutions, or related settings.
- Practical experience implementing food safety standards and food quality monitoring.
- Experience in developing and delivering nutrition, health, hygiene, or food safety training programmes.
- Experience conducting awareness programmes or workshops for educational staff and parents.
- Strong ability to analyse health and nutrition-related data and prepare professional reports.
- Knowledge of children’s nutritional requirements and healthy meal planning.
- Understanding of food safety, hygiene, nutrition policies, and relevant regulatory requirements.
- Strong communication, coordination, reporting, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
Certifications & Training – Nutrition Technician
Relevant professional certifications or training in the following areas will be an advantage:
- Food Safety
- HACCP and Food Hygiene
- Early Childhood Nutrition
- First Aid
- Children’s Health and Safety
- Management of Children’s Health-Related Conditions
- Public Health or Nutrition Education
