Microbiologist – Quality Assurance vacancy at a leading FMCG food Industry to support and strengthen food safety and quality systems within a fast-paced FMCG environment. This role is ideal for professionals with hands-on experience in microbiological testing, hygiene monitoring, and regulatory compliance in frozen food and ready-to-eat (RTE/RTC) product manufacturing.
The selected candidate will play a critical role in ensuring that all products meet national and international food safety standards, including regulatory compliance with FSSAI, Codex Alimentarius, and export market requirements.
Job Responsibilities
- Perform routine and advanced microbiological testing of raw materials, in-process samples, finished products, water, and environmental swabs
- Implement and monitor hygiene and sanitation programs across production and processing areas
- Ensure strict adherence to food safety standards such as HACCP, ISO 22000, FSSC 22000, and BRCGS
- Conduct environmental monitoring programs (EMP) to identify contamination risks and ensure plant hygiene
- Analyze microbiological data, investigate deviations, and recommend corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Maintain accurate laboratory records, reports, and documentation in compliance with audit requirements
- Support internal and external audits, including regulatory inspections and certification audits
- Collaborate with production, QA, and supply chain teams to enhance overall food safety and quality performance
- Stay updated with emerging microbiological testing techniques, rapid methods, and global food safety trends
Job Qualifications
- Master’s Degree (M.Sc.) in Microbiology, Food Microbiology, or Industrial Microbiology (preferred)
- Bachelor’s Degree (B.Sc.) in Microbiology with strong relevant industry experience may also be considered
- Minimum 3 years of experience in food processing or FMCG manufacturing, preferably in frozen foods, ready-to-eat (RTE), ready-to-cook (RTC), dairy, meat, or seafood sectors.
Technical Skills & Competencies
- Strong expertise in microbiological analysis techniques (conventional and rapid methods)
- In-depth knowledge of food safety management systems including HACCP, ISO 22000, FSSC 22000, and BRCGS standards
- Familiarity with FSSAI regulations, Codex standards, and export compliance requirements
- Experience with laboratory documentation systems, audit preparation, and compliance reporting
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, reporting dashboards)
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
