An International Firm in Testing, Inspection, and Certification services is hiring a Laboratory Technician – Food Microbiology for Quebec, Canada with the following:

Responsibilities

  • Provide general lab support.
  • Ensure a high level of accuracy in sample preparation.
  • Perform basic testing procedures for food samples.
  • Assist with media preparation and decontamination.
  • Employ proper laboratory techniques to minimize risk of mislabeling, sample mix-up and cross contamination between samples and other materials.
  • If needed, help at sample reception.
  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Work Instructions (WIs) when conducting any laboratory work or procedure;
  • Prioritize daily workload based on sample and client requirement;
  • Identify any non-routine samples and seeks guidance on procedures for handling;
  • Identify and communicate non-conformances to Supervisor;
  • Meet quality and TAT specifications required by the client and ensure samples are analyzed within holding time requirements.
  • Maintain training records and relevant qualifications.
  • Keep work area clean, neat and organized.
  • All other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Graduation in Microbiology or Food Science.
  • Have experience in a laboratory is an asset.
  • Have a positive outlook with an ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Have good time-management, communication, multi-tasking and priority setting skill.
  • Work well both independently and as part of a team.
  • Are detail orientated and have record keeping skills.
