A Food Trading Company in Abu Dhabi, UAE is looking for a Quality Controller with the following:
Job Responsibilities
- Quality Assurance Management: Lead and manage the quality control activities within the food and beverage production and catering processes to ensure compliance with internal and external food safety standards (e.g., HACCP, ISO 22000, etc.).
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all products and processes comply with food safety regulations, including local, national, and international standards relevant to the food and beverage/catering industry.
- Inspections and Audits: Conduct regular inspections of the production, storage, and service areas to monitor adherence to hygiene and sanitation standards. Lead internal audits and support external audits from regulatory bodies.
- Product Testing: Supervise and carry out quality checks and sensory evaluations of raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods to ensure they meet specified standards for taste, texture, appearance, and safety.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement and work closely with the production, procurement, and operations teams to implement corrective actions that enhance product quality and operational efficiency.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of quality checks, audit results, and corrective actions. Generate detailed reports on product quality and safety performance metrics for management review.
- Team Leadership: Supervise, train, and mentor quality control staff, providing guidance and feedback to ensure they adhere to best practices and are equipped to meet quality assurance goals.
- Customer Feedback Handling: Analyze customer complaints and feedback related to product quality and service, investigate root causes, and collaborate with relevant teams to implement solutions that prevent recurrence.
- Supplier Management: Evaluate and audit suppliers to ensure that incoming materials meet quality specifications. Collaborate with the procurement team to resolve supplier quality issues.
- Crisis Management: Develop and implement procedures for managing food safety incidents, including product recalls, contamination risks, and other emergencies.
Job Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or a related field. A Master’s degree or additional certifications in Quality Management or Food Safety (e.g., HACCP, ISO) is an advantage.
- Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in quality control/quality assurance in the food and beverage or catering industry, with at least 2-3 years in a supervisory or senior position.
- Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of food safety regulations (e.g., FDA, EU regulations), quality standards, and relevant quality control processes within the food and catering industry.
- Skills: Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficient in using quality control software and systems.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work with diverse teams and suppliers.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Certifications: HACCP certification is required. ISO 22000, FSSC, or similar food safety management certifications are highly desirable.
