Microbiologist wanted for a leading ISO 17025 Accredited Laboratory in UAE (UAQ) with the following:
Job Resposnibilities
- Perform routine microbiological tests on samples (food, water, environmental, or relevant matrices) according to ISO 17025 methods.
- Conduct microbial enumeration, pathogen detection, and hygiene indicator tests using standard methods such as ISO, APHA, FDA BAM, or internal validated procedures.
- Prepare culture media, reagents, buffers, and microbial cultures accurately and ensure proper sterilization and quality control.
- Operate laboratory instruments such as autoclaves, incubators, biosafety cabinets, colony counters, and PCR systems (if applicable).
- Ensure all testing activities comply with ISO/IEC 17025 requirements and laboratory SOPs.
- Maintain accurate, traceable, and timely documentation of test results, observations, and deviations.
- Participate in method validation, equipment calibration, internal audits, proficiency testing, and quality assessments.
- Follow all safety protocols, good laboratory practices (GLP), and biosafety standards.
Sample Handling & Reporting
- Receive, register, label, and store samples as per sample management protocols.
- Ensure proper handling of sterile materials to avoid cross-contamination.
- Prepare clear and precise test reports and promptly communicate any non-conformities or abnormal results.
Equipment & Laboratory Maintenance
- Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, and calibration checks of laboratory equipment.
- Report malfunctions and support troubleshooting to ensure minimal downtime.
- Ensure laboratory cleanliness and proper waste disposal according to hygiene and safety requirements.
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Biotechnology, Food Science, or a closely related discipline.
- Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in a UAE-based ISO 17025 accredited laboratory (mandatory).
- Strong knowledge of microbiological testing techniques, aseptic practices, and laboratory safety.
- Familiarity with ISO/IEC 17025 documentation, quality control procedures, and traceability requirements.
- Ability to work independently and manage workload with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in using microbiology laboratory instruments and conducting routine maintenance.
- Good communication and reporting skills in English.
