Microbiologist Intern – Water Solutions

Hiring a Microbiologist Intern to join a growing water solutions and water testing laboratory in Kochi. Job Responsibilities

• Assist in microbiological testing and analysis of drinking water, RO water, borewell water, and wastewater samples to ensure compliance with national and international water quality standards.
• Perform routine and advanced microbial examinations, including Total Plate Count (TPC), Total Coliforms, Fecal Coliforms, E. coli detection, and screening for other waterborne pathogens as per approved methods.
• Support sample collection, preservation, preparation, labeling, and chain-of-custody documentation in accordance with laboratory protocols and regulatory guidelines.
• Maintain strict laboratory hygiene, biosafety practices, and sterile working conditions to prevent cross-contamination and ensure accurate test results.

• Accurately record microbiological test observations, results, and calculations, and assist in laboratory report preparation, data entry, and result verification.
• Assist in cleaning, sterilization, and basic maintenance of laboratory equipment, including autoclaves, incubators, laminar airflow units, and analytical instruments.
• Support equipment calibration activities and ensure instruments are functioning as per quality and performance requirements.
• Adhere to quality control procedures, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), ISO/GLP guidelines, and internal laboratory testing protocols.
• Work collaboratively with senior microbiologists, lab analysts, and technical staff to support daily laboratory operations and meet testing timelines.
• Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety (EHS) regulations applicable to microbiological water testing laboratories.

Eligibility

• Freshers only (recent graduates encouraged to apply)
• Educational Qualification:
  • B.Sc. Microbiology or
  • M.Sc. Microbiology
• Basic knowledge of microbiology laboratory techniques
• Strong interest in water testing, water quality, and environmental microbiology
• Good observation skills, attention to detail, and willingness to learn

• Working Hours: 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM
• Working Days: Monday to Saturday
• Internship Duration: 6 Months
