Microbiologist FMCG Sharjah hiring to join the Quality Assurance team in a leading FMCG manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring that all products meet microbiological safety and quality standards, per international food safety regulations. This position demands strong technical knowledge, hands-on experience with analytical instruments, and the ability to work closely with cross-functional teams to maintain product integrity and consumer safety.
Job Responsibilities
- Conduct routine and advanced microbiological analysis of raw materials, in-process samples, finished products, water, and packaging materials.
- Monitor hygiene and sanitation standards in production and processing areas through environmental swabbing and pathogen testing.
- Perform microbial limit tests, shelf-life studies, and challenge tests in line with product development and regulatory requirements.
- Interpret test results, identify non-conformities, and collaborate with the QA and production teams for corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Develop and continuously update SOPs, microbiological testing protocols, and risk assessments.
- Ensure compliance with international food safety and quality standards, including BRC, FSSC 22000, HACCP, ISO 22000, GMP, and ESMA guidelines of an FMCG product.
- Maintain and calibrate laboratory instruments such as PCR machines, incubators, autoclaves, and biosafety cabinets.
- Maintain accurate records of test reports, microbial trends, and certificates of analysis (CoAs) in both digital and physical formats.
- Train production and QA teams on good laboratory practices (GLP), food hygiene, and microbiological safety.
- Participate in internal audits and assist in external inspections from regulatory and certification bodies.
Job Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Microbiology, Food Technology, or a related life science discipline.
- 5–7 years of hands-on experience in a microbiology laboratory within the FMCG or food manufacturing industry.
- In-depth knowledge of microbiological testing methods and foodborne pathogens.
- Familiarity with rapid detection techniques, such as PCR, ELISA, and ATP testing.
- Strong analytical thinking, documentation, and reporting skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and experience with LIMS or digital QA systems.
- Strong teamwork, organizational, and communication skills.
