Seeking a qualified and experienced Hygiene Officer for a leading Retail chain of Hypermarlet in Kochi, India, to ensure the highest standards of food hygiene, sanitation, and safety across all food handling and retail operations. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of food safety regulations, hygiene monitoring systems, and compliance requirements applicable to large retail and hypermarket environments.
Job Responsibilities
- Monitor and enforce food hygiene and sanitation standards across all departments, including fresh food, bakery, meat, seafood, and ready-to-eat sections.
- Ensure compliance with FSSAI regulations, local health authority requirements, and company hygiene policies.
- Conduct routine hygiene inspections, audits, and risk assessments in food preparation, storage, and display areas.
- Implement and monitor GHP, GMP, and HACCP-based hygiene practices.
- Train food handlers and staff on personal hygiene, food safety awareness, sanitation procedures, and pest control practices.
- Oversee cleaning and sanitation programs, including verification of cleaning schedules and chemical usage.
- Monitor temperature controls, food storage conditions, and waste management systems.
- Investigate hygiene-related complaints, non-conformities, and incidents, and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Maintain accurate hygiene records, inspection reports, checklists, and compliance documentation.
- Coordinate with quality assurance teams, operations, and third-party service providers to ensure continuous hygiene compliance.
Hygiene Officer – Kochi
- Strong knowledge of food hygiene, sanitation, and food safety management systems.
- Practical experience in retail food operations, supermarkets, or hypermarkets.
- Familiarity with FSSAI standards, HACCP principles, GMP, and GHP.
- Excellent observation, reporting, and documentation skills.
- Ability to conduct staff training and communicate hygiene requirements effectively.
- High attention to detail and a proactive approach to hygiene risk management.
Job Qualifications
- MSc Food Technology or BTech Food Technology (mandatory).
- Minimum 2+ years of hands-on experience as a Hygiene Officer or Food Safety role in retail, food service, or food manufacturing.
- Experience in a hypermarket or large food retail environment will be an added advantage.
