A leading Retail and supermarket-hypermarket chain in Dubai, UAE, is looking for a Food Technologist with the following:
Job Responsibilities
- Food Safety & Compliance Oversight
- Ensure all food products, facilities, and operational processes comply with Retail standards, UAE food safety regulations, and international best practices.
- Maintain and oversee food safety compliance across hospitality operations, including Product Process Guidelines (PPGs), allergen management, cleaning and sanitation procedures.
- Quality Assurance & KPI Governance
- Take ownership of key performance indicators (KPIs) and drive improvements reported during quarterly governance reviews, including consumer complaints, depot/store audit results, and product testing outcomes.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to elevate product quality and safety standards.
- Regulatory & Labelling Compliance
- Ensure full compliance of product labelling with M&S requirements and UAE labelling regulations.
- Conduct horizon scanning to identify changes in food safety regulations and proactively implement required adaptations in local operations.
- Facility & Operational Audits
- Work closely with Technical Services Leads (TSL) and Food Technologists to verify that local manufacturing and retail facilities meet Retail and UAE regulatory food safety standards.
- Oversee audits, compliance checks, and ensure corrective actions are implemented effectively.
- Stakeholder Collaboration
- Act as a key point of contact between technical teams, regulatory authorities, and internal stakeholders.
- Provide expert guidance to cross-functional teams on food safety and compliance-related issues.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proactive approach to identifying risks, implementing corrective measures, and ensuring compliance.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced retail environment.
- Strong collaboration and cross-functional working skills with the ability to influence stakeholders.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Job Qualifications
- Degree or Diploma in Food Technology, Food Science, Microbiology, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 4–5 years of experience in food safety, quality assurance, or compliance within retail, hospitality, or FMCG sectors.
- Strong knowledge of UAE food safety regulations, international standards (HACCP, ISO, Codex), and retail food compliance.
- Proven experience in conducting audits, managing compliance, and liaising with regulatory authorities.
- Demonstrated ability to build effective stakeholder relationships and influence decision-making.
