Seeking a dedicated Food Safety Officer to ensure that Tang Restaurants comply with all food safety regulations and maintain the highest standards of hygiene and safety. This role requires a thorough understanding of food safety principles, an ability to proactively identify risks, and a drive to ensure that our food service operations meet both legal and industry standards. The Food Safety Officer will collaborate with various departments, including food production facilities, restaurant teams, and suppliers, to maintain a safe and compliant food environment.
Job Responsibilities
- Develop and Implement Policies: Create, update, and enforce comprehensive food safety policies and procedures in line with Dubai Municipality regulations and international standards (HACCP, ISO 22000).
- Inspections and Audits: Conduct routine food safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments across all restaurants and production areas. Document findings and implement necessary corrective measures.
- Staff Training: Organize and lead training sessions for kitchen staff, management, and suppliers on best food safety practices, including hygiene, food handling, storage, and preparation standards.
- Incident Investigation: Investigate any reported food safety incidents, non-conformance issues, or complaints. Perform root cause analysis and develop preventive and corrective action plans.
- Supplier Compliance: Work closely with suppliers to ensure that all food products meet required safety and quality standards, conducting regular supplier audits as necessary.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all food safety procedures align with local and federal regulations, keeping the restaurant fully compliant with Dubai Municipality Food Safety Department guidelines.
- Monitor Food Safety Metrics: Track and analyze key food safety performance indicators (KPIs) such as incident reports, audit scores, and staff compliance to identify areas for continuous improvement.
- Stay Updated: Keep abreast of industry trends, new regulations, and best practices in food safety to continually improve food safety protocols.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with the restaurant’s management, chefs, kitchen staff, and external auditors to foster a culture of safety and compliance.
Job Responsibilities
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Public Health, Microbiology, or a related field. Advanced qualifications such as HACCP certification, ISO 22000 certification, or equivalent are a plus.
- Experience: At least 2-3 years of experience in a food safety role, preferably in the hospitality or restaurant industry in the UAE or GCC.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of Dubai food safety regulations and global standards such as HACCP, GMP, and ISO 22000. Ability to apply this knowledge practically to restaurant operations.
- Attention to Detail: Keen eye for identifying potential food safety hazards and the ability to implement effective control measures.
- Problem-solving Skills: Excellent critical thinking and analytical abilities to address food safety challenges quickly and efficiently.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills in English. Arabic language skills are advantageous. Ability to train and instruct staff of diverse backgrounds effectively.
- Leadership and Collaboration: Ability to lead food safety initiatives across restaurant departments and work well in a team-oriented environment.
