Food Safety Officer

Food Safety Officer opportunity at an  Environment and Climate authority in Dubai, UAE, with the following:

Job Responsibilities

• Develop and implement integrated food security action plans to strengthen local agricultural, livestock, fisheries, and food processing sectors in the emirate.
• Monitor, analyze, and report on the Global Food Security Index (GFSI) and international food security benchmarks, recommending initiatives to position the UAE among the top food-secure nations globally.
• Conduct comprehensive food security risk assessments, focusing on climate change, drought, water scarcity, geopolitical risks, and instability in food-exporting countries.
• Design and deliver food security awareness and education programmes for government entities, institutions, producers, and the general public.
• Supervise and evaluate organizations involved in agriculture, livestock, and fisheries production, ensuring compliance with food safety, sustainability, and environmental regulations.
• Develop and manage a centralized food security data platform to track production, supply chain activities, strategic food stocks, and food safety indicators.
• Coordinate with relevant government authorities to support and incentivize local food producers in agriculture, livestock, fisheries, and food manufacturing.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to assist food production institutions with marketing, distribution, and market access for locally produced food products.
• Prepare technical reports, food security assessments, and strategic recommendations to support evidence-based policymaking.

Job Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in:

• Food Safety
• Food Science
• Food Manufacturing
• Public Health
• Environmental Health or a related field
• Minimum 3 years of professional experience in food safety, food security, agriculture, environmental health, or regulatory roles.

Key Skills & Competencies

• Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and food security systems
• Understanding of agricultural, livestock, and fisheries production
• Experience with risk assessment, sustainability planning, and data analysis
• Familiarity with global food supply chains and strategic food reserves
