Food Quality Controller wanted at a leading Food Processing Industry in Kerala, India, with the following:

Location: Kerala
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Education: Graduation in Food Technology / Chemistry / Microbiology
Experience: Minimum 3 years in Quality Control (QC)

Job Responsibilities

  • Conduct physical, chemical, microbiological, and sensory evaluation of raw materials, in-process materials, and finished products.
  • Ensure all test results meet defined product specifications, customer requirements, and regulatory standards.
  • Operate laboratory instruments and quality testing equipment with accuracy, ensuring calibration and maintenance.
  • Ensure all products, processes, and documentation comply with HACCP, FSSAI, GMP, and other relevant national and international food safety regulations.
  • Support compliance requirements for export markets by maintaining updated knowledge of export-quality standards.
  • Monitor and supervise production lines to ensure proper hygiene, handling, and processing practices.
  • Verify adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) during receiving, processing, packaging, and storage.
  • Identify deviations in quality parameters and communicate issues promptly to production teams.
  • Lead and participate in internal quality audits, hygiene inspections, and process audits.
  • Assist in external audits conducted by customers, certification bodies, and regulatory authorities.
  • Prepare audit reports and support improvements to maintain robust quality systems.
  • Investigate quality failures, contamination risks, or non-conformities using systematic root cause analysis tools.
  • Implement Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) to enhance product quality and prevent recurrence.
  • Maintain accurate and complete documentation of all quality tests, inspections, deviations, and corrective actions.
  • Prepare quality reports for management review and ensure traceability of all materials and finished products.
  • Ensure all QC records are audit-ready and compliant with statutory requirements.
  • Work closely with production, procurement, R&D, and supply chain teams to resolve issues affecting product quality.
  • Support new product trials with testing and validation inputs.
  • Train production and QC staff on food safety requirements, GMP, hygiene standards, and quality testing procedures.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and quality awareness across departments.

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Technology, Chemistry, Microbiology, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a Quality Control role within the food industry.
  • Strong understanding of HACCP, FSSAI, GMP, and quality management systems.
  • Proficiency in performing laboratory tests and using analytical instruments.
  • Excellent attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a laboratory environment and collaboratively on the production floor.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to prepare accurate reports.
  • Experience in export documentation and standards is an added advantage.
