A FMCG Company in Kerala, India, is looking for Food Quality Controller -Microbiologist with the following experience in Microbiology and Food Science and Quality Control
Job Responsibilities
Supplier Quality Assurance (SQA):
- Conduct detailed Quality and Food Safety (Q&FS) audits at supplier facilities to verify compliance with company standards and international regulations.
- Evaluate suppliers’ quality systems, processes, and microbiological controls to ensure alignment with internal benchmarks.
- Support suppliers in identifying root causes of non-conformities and developing corrective and preventive action plans.
- Ensure consistent monitoring and improvement of supplier performance through follow-up audits and performance reviews.
Quality and Food Safety Management:
- Ensure that all products, raw materials, and packaging materials meet microbiological and food safety requirements.
- Maintain quality controls across the production and supply chain to guarantee product consistency, safety, and compliance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address quality concerns and implement preventive measures.
- Participate in internal and external audits, ensuring readiness for certifications and compliance with regulatory authorities.
Supplier Development and Upgradation:
- Work closely with suppliers to enhance their technical capability and readiness to meet future business requirements.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives by sharing best practices, conducting training sessions, and promoting food safety culture.
- Monitor supplier performance against key indicators such as Average Service Level (ASL) and implement improvement programs where required.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Coordinate with internal departments including Procurement, Production, and R&D to ensure supplier compliance and smooth operational flow.
- Serve as a key liaison between the company and suppliers, ensuring transparent communication and prompt resolution of quality issues.
- Provide technical support to regional and global leadership teams on supplier-related quality matters.
Job Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Food Technology, Biotechnology, or related discipline.
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in the Food & Beverage industry, preferably in quality control, supplier quality assurance, or food microbiology.
- Technical Expertise:
- Strong knowledge of microbiological testing methods and food safety systems such as HACCP, ISO 22000, and GMP.
- Experience conducting supplier audits and managing corrective actions.
- Skilled in statistical analysis, data interpretation, and quality improvement tools.
- Soft Skills:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving ability with attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced FMCG environment.
