Role Description

This is a part-time remote role for a Technical Writer at FoodTechSafety. The Technical Writer will be responsible for creating technical documentation, manuals, and other written materials related to HSE.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Develop HSE Documentation: Prepare, review, and update Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies, procedures, manuals, and guidelines, ensuring alignment with regulatory standards (e.g., ISO 45001, ISO 14001).
  2. Compliance Reporting: Generate and maintain compliance reports, safety manuals, and incident reports as per local and international HSE regulations.
  3. Content Creation: Write technical content for safety protocols, risk assessments, emergency response plans, and safety training manuals.
  4. Editing and Proofreading: Edit and proofread HSE documents for accuracy, clarity, and compliance with industry standards.
  5. Collaboration with Teams: Work closely with HSE specialists, engineers, and project managers to gather technical data and incorporate it into readable, user-friendly documents.
  1. Training Material Development: Develop and update training materials for employee HSE education, including presentations, handouts, and e-learning modules.
  2. Research and Analysis: Conduct research on new safety protocols, regulations, and best practices to incorporate into company documentation.
  3. Audit Preparation: Assist in the preparation of documents and reports required for internal and external HSE audits.
  4. Document Management: Maintain version control of documents and ensure all materials are properly archived and accessible.
  5. Continuous Improvement: Provide input for improving HSE documentation processes and ensure materials are up-to-date and compliant with evolving safety standards.

Qualifications

  1. Educational Background:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing, Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, Engineering, or a related field.
  2. Experience:
    • 3+ years of experience in technical writing, preferably within an HSE environment or industry (e.g., construction, oil & gas, manufacturing).
  3. Knowledge of HSE Standards:
    • Strong understanding of HSE regulations, standards, and best practices (e.g., ISO 45001, ISO 14001, OSHA).
  4. Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and document management software.
    • Experience with content management systems (CMS) or e-learning platforms is a plus.

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information clearly and concisely.
  2. Attention to Detail:
    • Strong attention to detail and the ability to produce error-free documentation.
  3. Collaboration Skills:
    • Ability to work with cross-functional teams and gather input from subject matter experts.
  4. Certifications (Preferred):
    • Certification in HSE standards (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH) or Technical Writing.
  5. Problem-Solving Skills:
    • Ability to analyze complex information and propose effective solutions for documentation.
