Experience Required: Minimum 2 Years in Pharmaceutical Microbiology / QC Lab
Job Responsibilities
- Conduct routine microbiological testing of raw materials, in-process samples, water systems (PW, WFI), and finished pharmaceutical products as per pharmacopeial standards (USP/EP/BP).
- Perform sterility testing, microbial limit tests, bioburden analysis, endotoxin testing, and environmental monitoring of classified cleanrooms.
- Carry out microbial identification using biochemical methods, staining techniques, and other validated laboratory procedures.
- Monitor and document results of environmental monitoring, including air sampling, surface swabs, settle plates, and personnel hygiene checks.
- Assist in qualification and validation activities, including media fill trials, aseptic process validation, equipment validation, and method validation.
- Ensure proper maintenance, calibration, and operation of microbiology laboratory instruments such as autoclaves, incubators, LAF cabinets, particle counters, and endotoxin systems.
- Review, record, and maintain accurate microbiological documentation, test reports, logbooks, and data sheets in compliance with GMP and regulatory standards.
- Participate in investigations of OOS (Out of Specification), OOT (Out of Trend), deviations, and non-conformities, and support implementation of CAPA.
- Prepare sterile media, reagents, culture maintenance, and maintain stock of consumables required for microbiology testing.
- Ensure strict adherence to GMP, GLP, and safety practices during all lab activities, including proper gowning, aseptic handling, and waste disposal procedures.
- Support internal and external audits by regulatory bodies and assist in ensuring the lab remains inspection-ready at all times.
Job Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Microbiology, Biotechnology, or related Life Science discipline (Master’s degree preferred).
Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in a pharmaceutical microbiology or QC laboratory environment.Strong knowledge of pharmacopeial standards (USP, EP, BP) and regulatory guidelines (FDA, GMP, ISO, WHO).
Proven experience in sterility testing, microbial limit testing, bioburden analysis, environmental monitoring, and water system testing.Familiarity with operation, calibration, and basic troubleshooting of microbiology lab equipment.Good understanding of aseptic techniques, contamination control, and cleanroom microbiology.Excellent documentation skills with experience in GMP-compliant recordkeeping.Ability to analyze data, identify deviations, and support investigations and corrective actions.
Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with QA, production, and engineering teams.Detail-oriented, organized, and committed to maintaining high-quality laboratory practices.
