Teacher – Food and Nutrition – A leading educational institute, in UAE is looking for a Teacher – Food and Nutrition with the following:

Job Responsibilities

Teaching and Learning

  • Deliver engaging and interactive Food and Nutrition lessons aligned with the school’s curriculum and standards.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of curriculum content and objectives for Food and Nutrition.
  • Design, plan, and implement lesson plans that address the needs of students across varying ability levels.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment by organizing learning resources and creating dynamic displays.
  • Inspire students through imaginative teaching techniques, practical demonstrations, and real-world applications of nutrition concepts.
  • Use varied and effective teaching strategies to promote active learning and critical thinking.
  • Continuously assess, reflect on, and adapt instructional strategies to ensure student progress.
  • Observe and evaluate student performance and development in accordance with school guidelines and curriculum assessments.
  • Collaborate with specialists such as speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, and educational psychologists when required to support student development.
  • Embed the Yas American Academy’s “Teacher and Learner DNA” values and attitudes into everyday classroom practices.

Assessment and Data

  • Take full accountability for the academic progress and well-being of your assigned class.
  • Conduct formative and summative assessments and maintain accurate records using platforms like Target Tracker.
  • Use assessment data to inform lesson planning, adjust instructional strategies, and identify interventions to enhance student learning.
  • Provide clear and constructive feedback to students and their families through formal and informal communication, including Parent-Teacher Conferences.

Classroom and Behaviour Management

  • Implement the school’s behaviour policy consistently to foster a respectful, safe, and productive learning environment.
  • Effectively manage classroom dynamics using strategies tailored to students’ developmental needs.
  • Model exemplary behavior, professionalism, and high expectations in every interaction with students.
  • Encourage self-discipline, independence, and personal responsibility among learners.
  • Perform supervision duties and contribute to maintaining a safe school environment.

Teamwork and Collaboration

  • Work collaboratively with teaching colleagues to plan cohesive and engaging lessons.
  • Actively participate in curriculum planning meetings, interdisciplinary initiatives, and school development programs.
  • Maintain open and professional communication with parents, carers, and members of the school community.
  • Collaborate with curriculum support staff to enhance student learning and personal growth.
  • Build positive relationships with students, parents, staff, and the broader school community.

Wider Professional Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the planning and execution of school events, educational trips, and enrichment activities, including those held on weekends or evenings.
  • Serve as an active member of a curriculum action group to support school-wide initiatives.
  • Communicate student progress and well-being through school-approved channels and systems such as CPOMS.
  • Support the holistic development of students through participation in extra-curricular activities, including leading at least one weekly Extra-Curricular Activity (ECA) per term.
  • Uphold the ethos, values, and broader mission of the school in all professional activities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Food and Nutrition, Home Economics, or a related subject.
  • Recognized teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, B.Ed., or equivalent).
  • Minimum of 1–2 years of teaching experience, preferably in an international or multicultural setting.
  • Experience teaching students for whom English is an additional language (EAL).
  • Deep passion for teaching and a commitment to nurturing the whole child – academically, socially, and emotionally.
  • High levels of professionalism and dedication to student welfare.
  • Proven track record of participating in school-wide or extracurricular initiatives.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and foster an inclusive classroom culture.
  • A proactive and solutions-oriented approach to challenges.
  • A valid and clean enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check or equivalent police clearance.
