Quality Controller- Premium Fresh – Seeking a dedicated Quality Controller to oversee and ensure that all vegetable produce meets the highest quality and safety standards throughout the production process. The role involves monitoring, testing, and verifying that raw materials, packaging materials, and finished goods comply with company specifications as well as relevant regulatory and food safety requirements.
Job Responsibilities
- Quality Inspection: Perform routine quality checks on incoming raw vegetables, packaging materials, in-process items, and finished products to ensure they meet defined quality specifications.
- Process Monitoring: Supervise production operations to verify adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), hygiene, and sanitation protocols within all processing and packing areas.
- Documentation: Maintain precise and up-to-date quality control records, including batch production records, Certificates of Analysis (COAs), lab test results, and inspection logs, in accordance with internal and external audit requirements.
- Equipment Handling: Operate, calibrate, and maintain quality control instruments such as pH meters, moisture analyzers, viscometers, and other relevant lab equipment to ensure accurate results.
- Compliance & Standards: Enforce compliance with applicable food safety standards, including HACCP, ISO 22000, FSSAI, BIS, and other relevant local and international regulations.
- Non-Conformance Management: Investigate quality deviations, customer complaints, and non-conformance reports; identify root causes and recommend effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Cross-Functional Coordination: Coordinate with production, procurement, and warehouse teams to address quality issues, verify supplier compliance, and maintain consistency in raw material and finished product quality.
- Audit Support: Assist in preparing for and participating in internal, regulatory, and third-party audits; ensure all documentation is audit-ready and corrective actions are closed on time.
- Product Development Support: Support new product development (NPD) activities by performing product trials, conducting stability and shelf-life studies, and providing quality-related inputs to the development team.
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Technology, Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, or a related discipline.
- 2–5 years of proven experience in a quality control role within the FMCG sector, preferably dealing with fresh produce or perishable goods. Talented freshers with relevant internships may also be considered.
- Solid understanding of GMP, HACCP, ISO 22000, FSSAI, and BIS standards.
- Hands-on experience in using lab equipment and interpreting analytical results.
- Strong analytical, investigative, and problem-solving abilities with keen attention to detail.
- Proficiency in maintaining accurate records and using software for quality data management and reporting.
- Good verbal and written communication skills for clear reporting and team coordination.
- Willingness to work in shifts and flexible to accommodate production requirements.
