A Retail Supermarket and food chain in Dubai UAE, is looking for a Quality Control Officer- Retail Supermarket with the following:,

Job Responsibilities

  • 1. Daily Site Inspections and Compliance Monitoring:
  • Conduct daily pre-production inspections to ensure the facility is properly prepared for safe and compliant food manufacturing operations.
  • Carry out routine spot checks across all departments to monitor adherence to operational procedures and validate system documentation (at least once per week).
  • Review and approve work-in-progress and finished products, ensuring they meet the defined specifications, recipes, and quality standards.
  • 2. Food Safety System Support and Implementation:
  • Assist the Food Safety Team Leader (FSTL) in implementing, maintaining, and improving food safety management systems, including HACCP and ISO 22000 protocols.
  • Support efforts to address and close non-compliances by participating in root cause analysis and corrective action planning.
  • Ensure that a certified Person in Charge (PIC), trained First Aider, and qualified Fire Fighter are present on duty at all times.

  • 3. Microbiological and Hygiene Testing:
  • Develop, schedule, and manage the ATP (Adenosine Triphosphate) swab testing program to verify surface hygiene standards.
  • Conduct hygiene audits across production and storage areas, ensuring cleanliness and sanitation protocols are consistently upheld.
  • 4. Surprise Audits and Cross-Departmental Inspections:
  • Perform unannounced audits and spot checks across various departments, without informing department heads in advance.
  • Evaluate food safety compliance beyond direct areas of responsibility to promote company-wide adherence to standards.
  • 5. Product and Process Approvals:
  • Assess and approve finished goods before dispatch to confirm compliance with product specifications and customer requirements.
  • Authorize production processes and product batches during manufacturing stages that meet internal quality standards.

6. Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain comprehensive and accurate records of inspections, hygiene audits, ATP test results, non-conformance reports, and corrective actions.
  • Submit detailed daily quality reports and assist in preparing for internal audits, third-party inspections, and regulatory audits (such as by Dubai Municipality).

7. Team Support and Quality Culture Promotion:

  • Provide hands-on training and real-time guidance to production staff to enhance awareness and compliance with food safety and hygiene practices.
  • Foster a proactive quality culture by encouraging teamwork in identifying and implementing corrective actions.

Authorities:

  • Determine and enforce appropriate corrective actions for non-compliant operational procedures within the scope of responsibility.
  • Conduct unannounced audits and cross-functional checks without prior approval or notification.
  • Approve or reject products for dispatch and in-process items based on compliance with quality specifications and recipes.
  • Override departmental decisions where necessary to protect food safety and product quality standards.

Job Qualifications

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Food Technology, Microbiology, or a related scientific discipline.
  • Minimum of 2 years of practical experience in quality control within a food production or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of HACCP principles, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and ISO 22000 food safety management systems.
  • High attention to detail, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and excellent documentation abilities.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to work independently, take initiative, and stay composed under pressure.
  • Familiarity with Dubai Municipality food safety regulations and microbiological testing procedures is a distinct advantage.
  • Preferred certifications include HACCP Level 2 or 3, Basic Food Hygiene Certificate, and Internal Auditor qualification for ISO 22000.
