A Nutraceuticals – Probiotics Manufacturing Company in Dubai UAE is looking for a Biochemist
Job Responsibilities
- Study the biochemical properties of probiotic strains (Lactobacillus, Bifidobacterium, etc.) to determine their health benefits and stability.
- Develop and optimize fermentation processes for probiotic production.
- Analyze the interaction of probiotics with prebiotics and other functional ingredients.
- Conduct strain viability tests to enhance probiotic shelf life.
- Research the impact of probiotics on gut microbiota, immune function, and metabolic health.
- Perform chromatographic (HPLC, GC-MS) and spectroscopic (FTIR, UV-Vis) analyses to assess probiotic potency.
- Conduct microbiological tests to evaluate probiotic survivability under different processing and storage conditions.
- Ensure probiotic products comply with HACCP, ISO 22000, FDA, and EFSA guidelines.
- Investigate factors affecting probiotic stability in food , Bioptimizers and supplement formulations.
- Innovation & Product Development:
- Work with food technologists and nutritionists to develop new probiotic-based foods, beverages, and supplements.
- Formulate synbiotic products by combining probiotics with prebiotics for enhanced benefits.
- Optimize encapsulation techniques (e.g., microencapsulation, freeze-drying) to improve probiotic viability.
- Stay updated on emerging probiotic research, regulations, and consumer trends.
Regulatory Compliance & Documentation
- Prepare technical reports, research papers, and regulatory submissions.
- Assist in obtaining GRAS (Generally Recognized as Safe) status for new probiotic strains.
- Collaborate with regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with global food safety and probiotic labeling laws.
Job Qualifications
- Education: Master’s or Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Microbiology, Food Science, Biotechnology, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum 2-5 years in probiotic research, fermentation, or functional food development.
- Expertise in probiotic strain identification, genome sequencing, and metabolic profiling.
- Strong knowledge of fermentation technologies, bioactive compounds, and enzymatic processes.
- Experience in microbial culture techniques, cell viability assays, and probiotic formulation.
- Familiarity with bioreactors, spray-drying, and encapsulation technologies.
Regulatory Knowledge: Understanding of FDA, EFSA, FSANZ, and Codex Alimentarius guidelines on probiotics. - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with R&D, production, and quality assurance teams.
- Excellent documentation and research communication skills.
