A reputable food trading and distribution company in Dubai is currently seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Quality Controller to oversee the quality and safety of meat and frozen food products throughout the supply chain. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring that all food products meet company quality standards, UAE food safety regulations, and international food safety requirements.
The Quality Controller – Meat and Frozen Foods will be responsible for monitoring product quality during receiving, storage, handling, and dispatch operations, ensuring strict compliance with food safety standards, hygiene practices, and cold chain management procedures. The ideal candidate must have prior experience in food quality control within the meat, frozen foods, or food distribution industry in the UAE.This position requires strong attention to detail, good documentation skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with warehouse, logistics, and operations teams to maintain high standards of product quality and safety.
Job Responsibilities
Product Quality Inspection and Monitoring
- Conduct routine quality inspections on raw materials, meat products, and frozen food items upon receiving and during storage.
- Monitor product quality throughout handling, processing, storage, and distribution stages to ensure compliance with company specifications.
- Inspect temperature control and cold chain processes to maintain the safety and quality of frozen and chilled food products.
- Perform visual and physical quality checks to identify defects, contamination risks, packaging damage, or product deterioration.
Raw Material and Finished Product Evaluation
- Verify the quality and condition of incoming meat and frozen food products from suppliers.
- Ensure that products meet company quality specifications and regulatory food safety requirements.
- Conduct sampling and inspection of finished products prior to dispatch to ensure that only compliant products reach customers.
Packaging, Labeling, and Storage Verification
- Inspect packaging materials to ensure they are food-grade, intact, and properly sealed.
- Verify product labels for accuracy, including expiry dates, batch numbers, storage instructions, and regulatory compliance.
- Ensure proper FIFO (First In First Out) and FEFO (First Expiry First Out) inventory management practices are followed.
- Monitor storage facilities to confirm correct temperature levels for chilled and frozen food products.
Documentation and Reporting
- Maintain detailed quality inspection reports, checklists, and documentation for traceability and compliance purposes.
- Record and track quality control findings, including non-conformities, product deviations, and corrective actions taken.
- Prepare regular quality reports for management review and support internal audits when required.
Compliance with Food Safety Standards
- Ensure adherence to food safety regulations, hygiene standards, and company policies.
- Monitor workplace hygiene practices and ensure that staff follow proper food handling procedures.
- Support the implementation and monitoring of HACCP principles and food safety management systems.
- Assist in maintaining compliance with Dubai Municipality food safety regulations and industry best practices.
Corrective and Preventive Actions
- Identify quality deviations and immediately report issues to management.
- Work closely with production, warehouse, and logistics teams to investigate quality issues and implement corrective actions.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality, storage procedures, and operational efficiency.
Quality Controller Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Quality Controller in the food industry, preferably in meat processing, frozen foods, or food distribution.
- Experience working in food manufacturing, food trading, or food supply chain operations is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of food quality inspection procedures and cold chain management.
- Excellent attention to detail and product inspection skills.
- A UAE-sponsored or husband visa is eligible for application.
- Good record-keeping, documentation, and reporting abilities.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced warehouse or food distribution environment.
- Strong communication skills and ability to coordinate with cross-functional teams.
Job Qualifications
- Graduates with a Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Microbiology, or a related field.
- Knowledge of HACCP, GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), and food safety management systems is an advantage.
- Familiarity with UAE food safety regulations and Dubai Municipality food code is beneficial.
