Manchester Stores in UK is hiring a Food Safety Technologist with the following
Responsibilities
- Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure full compliance with UK food safety laws and Selfridges’ policies across all food service and retail areas of Manchester Stores. - Allergen Management:
Verify that all food products sold at Selfridges adhere to current allergen legislation and internal allergen management procedures, minimizing risk to customers with dietary sensitivities. - Training & Education:
Design and deliver engaging food safety training sessions tailored to various stakeholders across departments, promoting a food safety culture throughout the business. - Complaint Investigation:
Lead investigations into food-related customer complaints, following set procedures to ensure timely, accurate resolution and continuous improvement. - Supplier Quality Assurance:
Maintain and monitor supplier assurance protocols in collaboration with the Buying & Merchandising (B&M) teams, fostering strong supplier partnerships and accountability. - Pest Control Management:
Oversee the implementation and continuous improvement of pest control measures within all food-handling environments. - Microbiological Sampling:
Develop and execute a robust microbiological testing and sampling schedule to ensure high hygiene standards across food outlets. - Cross-Functional Coordination:
Work closely with suppliers, as well as Restaurant, Retail, Buying, and Merchandising teams, to resolve product specification issues and ensure food safety requirements are met. - Stakeholder Communication:
Act as the main liaison for food safety compliance updates, maintaining effective communication with internal stakeholders to align on standards and expectations. - Sustainability Support:
Contribute to Selfridges’ sustainability goals by ensuring suppliers meet ethical and food safety standards through ongoing verification processes at Manchester Stores.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools and internal systems for documentation and reporting.
Job Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Environmental Health, or a closely related discipline.
- Certification in Intermediate Food Hygiene and ideally Level 3 HACCP (preferred but not mandatory).
- Minimum of 6 months experience in a food safety, hygiene, or quality assurance role.
- Solid understanding of food composition, nutrition, and UK food legislation.
