An International Firm in Testing, Inspection, and Certification services is hiring a Laboratory Technician – Food Microbiology for Quebec, Canada with the following:
Responsibilities
- Provide general lab support.
- Ensure a high level of accuracy in sample preparation.
- Perform basic testing procedures for food samples.
- Assist with media preparation and decontamination.
- Employ proper laboratory techniques to minimize risk of mislabeling, sample mix-up and cross contamination between samples and other materials.
- If needed, help at sample reception.
- Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Work Instructions (WIs) when conducting any laboratory work or procedure;
- Prioritize daily workload based on sample and client requirement;
- Identify any non-routine samples and seeks guidance on procedures for handling;
- Identify and communicate non-conformances to Supervisor;
- Meet quality and TAT specifications required by the client and ensure samples are analyzed within holding time requirements.
- Maintain training records and relevant qualifications.
- Keep work area clean, neat and organized.
- All other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
- Graduation in Microbiology or Food Science.
- Have experience in a laboratory is an asset.
- Have a positive outlook with an ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Have good time-management, communication, multi-tasking and priority setting skill.
- Work well both independently and as part of a team.
- Are detail orientated and have record keeping skills.
