A hypermarket chain in Sharjah, UAE is looking for a Junior Quality Control Officer with Food Technology and Food Safety expertise and the following:

Job Responsibilities – Junior Quality Control Officer

  • Conduct daily quality inspections of poultry processing operations to ensure compliance with food safety standards and company SOPs.
  • Monitor and verify adherence to Critical Control Points (CCPs) in poultry production.
  • Inspect raw materials, in-process products, and finished poultry products for quality, hygiene, and safety compliance.
  • Assist in the implementation of HACCP procedures and maintain accurate quality records and reports.
  • Collaborate with production and quality teams to identify and resolve quality deviations.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance food safety, operational efficiency, and product quality.
  • Ensure proper handling, storage, and labeling of poultry products according to regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain accurate quality control records, inspection reports, and checklists for audits and compliance purposes.
  • Assist in product recall procedures and traceability exercises when required.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and internal teams to ensure consistent product quality and compliance.
  • Ensure proper FIFO (First In, First Out) and FEFO (First Expiry, First Out) practices are followed.
  • Support internal and external food safety audits and inspections by regulatory authorities.
  • Educate and guide store staff on basic food safety, hygiene standards, and quality handling practices.
  • Monitor pest control activities and ensure store cleanliness and hygiene standards are maintained.

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Microbiology, or a related discipline.
  • 0–2 years of experience in poultry processing, food manufacturing, or quality control operations (preferred).
  • Knowledge of Food hygiene standards, CCPs, and poultry product specifications.
  • Understanding of food safety regulations, HACCP principles of Poultry processing, and quality assurance procedures.
  • Food safety certifications accredited by Sharjah Municipality, Basic and Higher Food Safety Training and Certifications.
  • Monitor product freshness, shelf life, labeling accuracy, and storage conditions across all departments including bakery, meat, seafood, and grocery.
  • Ensure strict adherence to HACCP, GMP, and food safety regulations as per local authority guidelines.
  • Perform receiving inspections for incoming goods, verifying supplier quality, temperature control, and documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and ability to maintain accurate Food Safety records.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills to coordinate with production and quality teams.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe, hygienic, and compliant poultry processing environment.
