This internship offers valuable hands-on laboratory experience for students pursuing degrees in Food Technology, Biotechnology, Chemistry, or related fields, and provides an excellent opportunity to learn the fundamentals of industrial product development and innovation within the fast-paced FMCG sector.
Job Responsibilities
- Support Product Formulation Trials: Assist in developing and optimising formulations for new and improved food and beverage products, including bakery, dairy, snack, and drink categories.
- Conduct Laboratory Experiments: Carry out lab-scale tests and trials under the guidance of senior scientists, ensuring accuracy and adherence to R&D protocols.
- Sensory Evaluation: Participate in sensory studies by assisting with taste, texture, and aroma assessments to evaluate product quality and consumer appeal.
- Perform Analytical Tests: Conduct basic laboratory analyses such as moisture content, pH measurement, viscosity, and shelf-life evaluations using standard analytical tools.
- Sample Management: Prepare samples, label correctly, and maintain detailed records of trials, results, and test conditions in laboratory notebooks or digital systems.
- Documentation & Data Entry: Support accurate data logging, report preparation, and maintenance of technical documentation related to ongoing R&D projects.
- Quality & Food Safety Support: Collaborate with the Quality Control team to ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene protocols within the lab.
- Trend Research: Stay informed on emerging food trends, novel ingredients, processing technologies, and health-oriented innovations in the global food market.
Job Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Food Technology, Food Science, Biotechnology, Chemistry, or a related discipline.
- Strong interest in Food & Beverage R&D, FMCG product innovation, and food formulation science.
- Basic understanding of food analysis techniques, lab safety practices, and quality control testing.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to follow standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Good communication, teamwork, and presentation skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and comfortable handling lab data and reports.
