Hotel and Hospitality Industry in Qatar is looking for a Food Safety and Hygiene Officer. Working closely with food handling departments and the Quality & Sustainability Manager, this position ensures full compliance with Qatar’s food safety regulations, international standards, and brand requirements while maintaining exceptional guest safety and satisfaction.
This role is ideal for hospitality food safety professionals with strong auditing, training, and regulatory compliance experience in hotel or luxury resort environments.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and implement food safety and hygiene standards across all hotel kitchens, restaurants, banquet operations, and food storage areas.
- Ensure full compliance with Qatar food safety regulations, HACCP principles, and international hospitality standards.
- Conduct routine food safety inspections, hygiene audits, and risk assessments of food production processes, facilities, and equipment.
- Monitor critical control points (CCPs) and verify adherence to approved HACCP plans and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Train, coach, and educate kitchen and service staff on food hygiene, personal hygiene, allergen control, food handling, storage, and waste management.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of food safety and hygiene programs and recommend continuous improvement initiatives.
- Investigate food safety incidents, guest complaints, non-conformities, and audit findings, and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including F&B Operations, Quality Assurance, Sustainability, and Regulatory Affairs to ensure seamless food safety implementation.
- Stay updated on local authority guidelines, Qatar food laws, and hospitality industry best practices and ensure timely implementation of changes.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation, inspection records, audit reports, training logs, and compliance reports.
- Support internal and external audits conducted by regulatory authorities and brand auditors.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Food Safety, Microbiology, or a related discipline (Master’s degree preferred).
- Previous work experience in Qatar or GCC hospitality sector is highly preferred.
- Mandatory food safety certifications such as HACCP, ServSafe, or equivalent.
- Proven experience in a Food Safety, Hygiene, or Quality Assurance role within the hospitality or hotel industry; supervisory experience is an advantage.
- Strong working knowledge of HACCP, GMP, food safety regulations, and quality management systems.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to train and influence staff at all operational levels.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to risk management.
- High attention to detail and a strong commitment to food safety, hygiene excellence, and continuous improvement.
