A well-established British curriculum international school in Bahrain is seeking to appoint a passionate and highly skilled Food Technology Teacher to join its expanding secondary school team. The successful candidate will teach Food Technology / Food Preparation and Nutrition across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, preparing students for GCSE or IGCSE examinations in line with the English National Curriculum. The role is ideal for a teacher who enjoys hands-on learning, innovation in the classroom, and high academic standards within an international school environment.
Job Responsibilities – Food Technology Teacher
- Deliver high-quality Food Technology lessons across KS3 and KS4 in line with the British National Curriculum.
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging theory and practical food lessons that develop technical skills, creativity, and food literacy
- Teach core topics including nutrition, food science, food safety, food preparation skills, menu planning, and product development
- Prepare students effectively for GCSE / IGCSE Food Technology or Food Preparation and Nutrition examinations
- Manage practical lessons safely, ensuring full compliance with health and safety regulations, risk assessments, and hygiene standards
- Maintain a safe, well-organised, and stimulating food technology classroom and kitchen environment
- Monitor, assess, and report on student progress using formative and summative assessment strategies
- Support student engagement, achievement, and positive learning outcomes
- Promote high standards of behaviour, effort, cleanliness, and professionalism during practical sessions
- Work collaboratively with the Design & Technology department and contribute to cross-curricular initiatives
- Participate in school events, enrichment activities, and professional development programmes
- Uphold safeguarding, child protection, and student wellbeing policies at all times
Job Qualifications
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an internationally recognised teaching qualification
- Degree or subject specialism in Food Technology, Food Science, Nutrition, Hospitality, or a related field
- Proven experience teaching Food Technology or Food Preparation and Nutrition at secondary level
- Strong knowledge of the English National Curriculum and experience with GCSE / IGCSE assessment frameworks
- Excellent practical classroom management and organisational skills
- Sound understanding of food hygiene, kitchen safety, and risk management
- Ability to inspire students and adapt teaching strategies to diverse learning needs
- Commitment to inclusive education, safeguarding, and student wellbeing
- Previous experience in a British curriculum international school is highly desirable.
