A Gourmet Foods Manufacturing Company in Dubai UAE is looking for a Food Technologist with the following:

Job Responsibilities

  • Product Development:
    • Lead the development of new food products, including ready-to-eat meals, frozen foods, and gourmet sauces, from concept to final commercialization.
    • Formulate and trial recipes using innovative ingredients and techniques while aligning with market trends and customer preferences.
  • Recipe Optimization:
    • Modify and enhance existing food formulations to improve product taste, texture, nutritional value, cost-efficiency, and shelf life without compromising on quality.
  • Regulatory Compliance:
    • Ensure that all product development activities comply with UAE regulatory standards, particularly those set by Dubai Municipality, and align with international food safety protocols.
    • Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including ingredient specifications, nutritional labels, and product data sheets, to support legal and quality compliance.
  • Sensory and Stability Testing:
    • Conduct structured sensory evaluations, organoleptic analysis, and product benchmarking to assess product quality.
    • Execute shelf-life studies and stability testing under various storage conditions and compile technical reports based on findings.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    • Work closely with the Quality Assurance, Production, and Marketing teams to ensure smooth product launches and consistent quality standards across all batches.
    • Provide technical support during scale-up trials and initial production runs in the manufacturing facility.
  • Documentation and Certification:
    • Assist in the preparation of documents required for food safety and quality certifications such as HACCP, ISO 22000, and other local/international standards.
    • Maintain comprehensive records of formulations, trials, and validations for audit and traceability purposes.
  • Market and Technology Insights:
    • Stay updated with emerging food trends, new ingredients, packaging innovations, and processing technologies relevant to the GCC region.
    • Propose creative product concepts and technical improvements that align with the company’s vision and customer expectations.

Job Qualifications

  • Educational Background:
    • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Food Technology, Food Science, Food Engineering, or a closely related discipline from a recognized university.
  • Professional Experience:
    • Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in food product development or food processing within a manufacturing environment.
    • Prior experience in the UAE or GCC food industry is highly preferred due to regulatory familiarity and market alignment.
  • Technical Knowledge:
    • In-depth understanding of food safety regulations, labeling requirements, and permissible additives as per UAE laws and GCC standards.
    • Proficient in conducting lab trials, using food testing and measuring equipment, and documenting technical data.
  • IT and Reporting Skills:
    • Strong command of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) for data analysis, report creation, and presentation.
    • Ability to prepare technical dossiers, product specs, and regulatory documents in a clear and organized format.
  • Interpersonal and Communication Skills:
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English for cross-functional collaboration and documentation.
    • Fluency in Arabic is an added advantage to liaise effectively with local authorities and suppliers.
