Food Safety Officer

Food Safety Officer wanted at a leading government authority, Dubai Municipality. Food Safety Officer (Food Safety Inspector) to support public health initiatives by ensuring food safety compliance across locally traded and imported food products.

This role is critical in maintaining food quality, hygiene standards, and regulatory compliance within the UAE’s food supply chain. The ideal candidate will be responsible for food sampling, inspection, reporting, and risk assessment, contributing to the prevention of foodborne hazards and ensuring consumer safety.

Job Responsibilities

Food Sampling & Inspection

  • Execute fieldwork plans for the collection of food samples from local markets and imported consignments, following approved food safety methodologies and inspection procedures.
  • Ensure sampling activities are conducted with accuracy, consistency, and full compliance with UAE food safety regulations.
  • Coordinate with regulatory bodies to identify sampling locations, priorities, and inspection schedules.

Compliance & Documentation

  • Verify that all collected samples meet food safety standards, hygiene regulations, and quality benchmarks.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of all sampling stages to support laboratory analysis, traceability, and risk assessment.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports on inspection activities, sampling results, and compliance status.

Food Safety Alerts & Risk Management

  • Monitor and follow up on food safety alerts, recalls, and notifications issued by local, federal, and international authorities.
  • Assess the severity and potential public health impact of food safety risks.
  • Develop and submit detailed reports including field observations, risk evaluations, and corrective action recommendations.

Corrective Actions & Follow-Up

  • Implement follow-up procedures to ensure that corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) are effectively applied.
  • Ensure compliance with food laws, regulations, and enforcement protocols during all follow-up activities.

Coordination with Laboratories

  • Liaise with accredited food testing laboratories to ensure timely delivery of samples.
  • Ensure proper sample handling, preservation, storage, and transportation in line with international food safety standards.

Continuous Improvement

  • Recommend enhancements to food safety inspection plans, sampling techniques, and operational procedures.
  • Contribute to improving risk-based inspection systems using field data and analytical findings.

Job Qualifications

  • Educational Qualification: Diploma in Chemical Sciences or High School Certificate (Science background preferred)
  • Experience: Freshers are encouraged to apply (0 years of experience required)
  • Basic understanding of food safety principles, hygiene standards, and inspection processes is an advantage
  • Strong attention to detail, reporting skills, and ability to work in field environments
