Quality Control Manager vacancy to oversee the quality, safety, and freshness of fruits and vegetables within our warehouse operations. The QC Manager will ensure that every step—from receiving produce to storage, distribution, and dispatch—meets stringent quality standards, reduces wastage, and enhances customer satisfaction.

This role demands extensive knowledge of perishable goods management, advanced inspection techniques, and a strong grasp of cold chain and supply chain quality practices.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement tailored QC procedures for fruits and vegetables across all stages: receiving, storage, and dispatch.
  • Conduct thorough inspections of all incoming produce to evaluate freshness, ripeness, size, grading, and any signs of spoilage or damage.
  • Monitor and maintain optimal storage conditions, including temperature, humidity, and ventilation, to prolong shelf life and minimize product loss.
  • Set up and manage quality checkpoints and quarantine zones for non-compliant or rejected items to prevent cross-contamination.
  • Perform regular sampling, grading, and quality assessments of stored produce; record results and initiate corrective actions promptly.
  • Collaborate closely with the procurement team and suppliers to address recurring quality issues, ensure adherence to quality specifications, and improve sourcing practices.
  • Train warehouse and handling staff on best practices for inspection, storage, and safe handling of perishable goods to minimize spoilage and maintain freshness.
  • Maintain comprehensive QC documentation, inspection logs, and compliance records for audits, supplier evaluations, and internal quality reviews.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety regulations, hygiene standards, supermarket protocols, and relevant HACCP/FSSAI/ISO guidelines.
  • Conduct vendor quality evaluations and contribute to building strong, quality-focused relationships with suppliers.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce waste, improve product shelf life, and enhance customer satisfaction.

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Food Technology, Post-Harvest Technology, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in Quality Control or Quality Assurance, with at least 5 years handling fresh produce in a warehouse, supermarket, or fresh supply chain environment.
  • Strong understanding of perishable goods handling, cold chain logistics, and shelf-life management.
  • Proven expertise in supplier management, problem-solving, and root cause analysis to address quality-related issues efficiently.
  • Attention to detail with excellent skills in inspection, documentation, and quality reporting.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and training abilities to guide and motivate warehouse and QC teams.
  • Familiarity with food safety standards such as HACCP, FSSAI, ISO 22000, and supermarket hygiene protocols.
