A leading Multilevel FMCG company in Dubai is looking for a Lab Analayst specializing in Microbiology Food and the following:

Job Responsibilities

Laboratory Analysis & Testing

  • Perform general microbiology and pathogen testing (e.g., Salmonella analysis) following Laboratory Instructions, Official Methods, and internal SOPs.
  • Read, interpret, and accurately record test results on worksheets, reporting findings promptly to supervisors.
  • Prepare and retain samples with proper identification, analysis details, and disposal dates.
  • Conduct Internal Control Plans (ICPs) as per the scheduled frequency for each laboratory area.
  • Participate in proficiency tests and ensure analytical results meet acceptable ranges (Z score satisfactory).

Media Preparation & Inventory Management

  • Prepare microbiological media according to Laboratory Instructions and internal SOPs.
  • Maintain appropriate stock levels of media, chemicals, disposables, and labware with correct labeling and storage.
  • Update media and chemical stock records when items are moved from stock to operational use.
  • Perform media performance checks upon receipt of new batches.
  • Conduct volume validation and leak tests for disposable labware before release for use.
  • Perform monthly inventory checks and track items approaching expiry or below minimum stock levels.

Sample Registration & Customer Coordination

  • Register samples in compliance with internal SOPs, including preparation of worksheets and sequential organization.
  • Record samples in SAP and ensure timely handover to analysts with correct labeling and creation of inspection lots.
  • Acknowledge and perform health checks on all registered samples daily.
  • Communicate professionally with customers regarding samples, analysis requests, or discrepancies, providing clear instructions on next steps.
  • Coordinate courier shipments of samples to other laboratories as required.

Laboratory Safety & Compliance

  • Adhere strictly to laboratory safety protocols and be trained in handling potential risks.
  • Ensure personal safety and the safety of colleagues, reporting hazards, incidents, or deviations immediately.
  • Maintain confidentiality and impartiality in all laboratory activities.
  • Apply 5S principles to maintain an organized and clean work environment.
  • Use appropriate PPEs and follow GLP standards consistently.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Report any deviations observed in analytical results or lab operations to supervisors.
  • Actively participate in daily operations reviews (DOR) and propose improvements for efficiency and quality.
  • Contribute to maintaining excellent customer service by ensuring timely and accurate analysis turnaround (2–3 days per NQAC KPI).

Job Qualifications

  • Strong microbiology laboratory skills and knowledge of pathogen testing.
  • Awareness of Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), laboratory safety, and Nestlé Leadership Framework.
  • Ability to work flexible hours according to laboratory needs.
  • Strong teamwork, motivation, and innovative problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to maintain high-quality standards.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology or a related scientific field.
  • Minimum 2 years of practical laboratory experience in microbiological testing.
  • Proficiency in using laboratory information management systems (e.g., SAP) is a plus.
  • Good understanding of laboratory safety, hygiene, and analytical procedures.

Food Microbiologist

  • Microbiology and pathogen analysis completed within 2–3 days (Turnaround Time).
  • Excellent proficiency test ratings in the area of competence.
  • High customer satisfaction based on responsiveness, turnaround time, and quality of feedback.
  • Compliance with laboratory safety, GLP, and 5S standards.
  • Timely registration and handling of samples.
